Spring Fever: Books to Read When You're Craving Spring
As I type, the sliding door to my balcony is open and it is 60 degrees. My dog is cuddled up next to me and we can hear the birds chirping. It may be a false Spring, but it is something I desperately needed! I used to dread Spring. It felt like an “inbetween” season, where it wasn’t quite Summer and the coziness of Winter had passed. But now, I look forward to Spring in a way that makes me giddy. The first morning the sun wakes me up instead of my alarm is such a gift!
I have become such a fan of fresh flowers and bright colors and keeping my space bright and clean. I feel like I have become a bit of a Spring myself! So, if you’re craving a bit of Spring, here are some books that evoke that fresh feeling.
Forget Me Not by Julie Soto
A florist! Tattoos! This book was everywhere last year and for good reason. Highly recommend the audio!
The Catch by Amy Lea
Right now, this book is on my favorites of 2024 list. It’s set during the Summer but I think it perfectly gets you ready for warm weather reading. It’s set in Canada and follows an influencer as she finds her creative passion again.
Rootbound by Tarah DeWitt
Fresh starts in hometowns always feel like they capture the new beginnings of Spring. Add that to a little cowboy romance? Sign me up. Tarah DeWitt has some of the most beautiful writing and if you’re a fan of Emily Henry, you’ll be a fan of hers.
When in Rome by Sarah Adams
Let me set the scene for you: small town romance, pop princess, pie baker. That’s all you need to know! Oh and it’s loosely based on Audrey Hepburn’s Roman Holiday.
Practice Makes Perfect by Sarah Adams
Another book featuring a florist, for spring? Groundbreaking. This is book 2 in Sarah Adam’s second series and I think it especially good on audio! It’s a bodyguard romance and super sweet with the slightest edge.
Tom Lake by Ann Patchett
While this book takes place in the Summer, I think it has Spring vibes. It’s set during the pandemic when a couple’s three daughters return home to shelter in place. Their mother tells them about the Summer she worked at a theater with a man who later went on to become one of the most famous actors of all time. It’s told in two timelines and one of them is set on a cherry farm. It’s delightful and Meryl Streep reads the audio!
Mixed Signals by B.K. Borison
BK Borison’s Lovelight series has a book set in each season. Based on the cover, you can guess which season Mixed Signals takes place in!
Better than Fiction by Alexa Martin
The setting of this book, a small town in the mountains of Colorado, is one of my favorites. It’s about a self proclaimed “book hater” who is left her grandmother’s bookstore where she meets a romance author who is determined to help her fall in love with stories.
Nora Goes Off Script by Annabel Monaghan
If you’re looking for a book about fresh starts for Spring, look no further than one of my favorite books of all time.
You Should See Me in a Crown by Leah Johnson
It wouldn’t be a Spring book list if I didn’t include a book that centers around prom! This is one of my favorite YAs from the last few years.
