January Mid Month Check In

Happy January 174th. It always seems to feel that doesn’t it? I want to refrain from saying, “My January didn’t have a good start” because it doesn’t matter and it doesn’t determine my year. I wrote a few newsletters on this topic and that was very therapeutic for me because whenever I put things in writing for others, it’s definitely something I need for myself. But let’s do a little mid month check in because I’m in a good reading groove finally!

Getting into a reading groove is dependent on two things for me: the habit and the book. I need to be reaching for books I love in the genres I know make me want to keep reading! I reached for a YA thriller because I knew it would be fast paced and help formulate the habit after I was watching way too much TikTok over winter break. Sometimes we need brain breaks like that but social media scrolling doesn’t make me feel good. It makes me feel like I’ve wasted my time!

Let me know what you’ve been consuming in these categories lately! I have been loving going back to the movies. I forgot how much I enjoyed it but I do not love the snack prices. I think I’m finally old.

What I’ve Read:

My Name is Barbra // The Break Up Tour // Liar’s Beach // The Catch

A little bit of a hot take…because I did love Barbra’s memoir…but I think it put me into a bit of a slump because it was SO long. A 50 hour audiobook/997 pages! It was fascinating and I’m glad I read it, but I started to get bored with the audiobook and wanted something knew, which made getting through it so much longer. The Break Up Tour was good but a little too cerebral for what I think it needed to be. I loved The Catch and enjoyed Liar’s Beach!

What I’ve Watched:

Anyone But You // New Girl // The Summer I Turned Pretty // Mean Girls: The Musical

What I’ve Added to My Wishlist:

Bowl Set // Souper Cubes // Couch Caddy // Lemon Print Dress
