Dear Reader: Books x Swifties

It’s the Summer of Swifties and this is a list I’ve been wanting to put together for a while! Some of these books contain references to Taylor Swift songs and others I think fit the vibe of her style of songs. I think we can all agree, fan or not, that the Taylor’s lyrics are incredibly clever and often have the vibes of storytelling. I feel this is especially true on the Red album, Folklore and Evermore.

I think it’s always fun to learn which authors are big fans of Taylor Swift because they tend to sprinkle in some Easter eggs! Kara McDowell and the married pair, Emily Wibberly and Austin Sigmund-Brokka.

Meet Me at Midnight by K.L. Walther

This title is such a perfect example of the era we’re currently in with Taylor Swift! It’s a New England boarding school story set in Rhode Island (where someone has a house!) and it’s so good. There’s a scavenger hunt aspect as well as a second chance Romance.

The Summer of Broken Rules by K.L. Walther

I’m pretty sure this book has been everywhere since 2021 thanks to its popularity on TikTok! It’s set on Martha’s Vineyard and a huge family reunion for a wedding! It also deals with grief in a very gentle, relatable way.

Everything I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton

This is a book I haven’t read yet but it’s one I know has a lot of love. It’s a series of essays that are funny, heartbreaking, and all about navigating friendship and adulthood.

Heartstopper Vol. 1

The graphic novel that has taken the world by storm thanks to it’s Netflix adaptation! I highly recommend reading the books because they’re so good and you can read them relatively quickly! They capture the feelings of young love that Taylor Swift is so famous for.

Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender

I will forever remember reading this book. Where I was, how I felt, the feeling of not being able to put it down. It is a book of self discovery, full of angst and feelings and friendship. There’s first kisses, high school parties, late night conversations and more.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

One of the most iconic books of this century in my opinion and I know so many people of read it, but I really feel like this is the kind of tell-all memoir people are hoping to get from Taylor one day!

One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle

This book screams “I had the Best Day” and “Marjorie” in my opinion. It’s a mother-daughter story set in Italy!

Outlawed by Anna North

You can’t talk about Taylor Swift and not think of her roots in country music. This book was a Reese’s book club pick at one point and it’s a little bit of historical fiction. After a year of marriage and no pregnancy, a 17 year old has to flee the town she lives in or be accused of witchcraft. It’s country fun and full of feminism!

Never Ever Getting Back Together by Sophie Gonzales

From the title alone, you need to read this one! It’s about a guy who goes on a reality dating show with his exes and two of them strike up a bit more of a friendship. It’s giving the 1989 era!

I’m dying to read more books that feel like folklore and evermore, so if you have any recommendations, please let me know!
