My Top Reads of Summer 2023
I love Summer reading. I love the long days, the nostalgia, the urge to stay up late reading or leisurely spend a morning by the water with coffee and my books. I think Fall and Winter reading is special in a totally different way, but Summer reading is just so special.
This Summer, I spent most of my time reading in the early mornings before work, in the car on some of our many road trips and on vacation! Nick and I haven’t taken a true vacation since our mini-moon right after out wedding and my goodness, do we need it.
I will say, I didn’t read as much as I wanted to this Summer. I was very busy but I loved how “go go go” the Summer was. I felt like I truly lived it to the fullest between pool days, trips, time with friends, and of course relaxing. The books that stood out to me really stood out though because I made time for them during this extremely busy season!
The Blonde Identity by Ally Carter
This might be my favorite book of the Summer because it was so highly anticipated! I LOVED it and had such a great time reading it. It’s a heist romance novel about a hot operative and a woman who wakes up without knowing who she is and is mistaken for her twin sister who is a spy. It’s so fun!
The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston
This BOOK! It’s got a little quirkiness to it because it’s got a time travel element to it, but I really loved how romantic it was. It reminded me of the peaks and valleys of a Taylor Swift song.
Done and Dusted by Lyla Sage
Twas the Summer of Yeehaw for me! This book was a delicious delight and totally transported me into the ranch world. It’s escapist and fun and summery and sexy.
Summer Stage by Meg Mitchell Moore
I love Meg Mitchell Moore’s books! This one takes place on Block Island, like The Islanders, which I loved in 2019. It’s about a famous actor turned director who returns home to direct his equally famous ex wife in a production of Much Ado About Nothing. I really enjoyed it as a theatre person but also for all the family drama.
Mrs. Nash’s Ashes by Sarah Adler
This book is the running for my favorite Romance of the year! It’s SO witty and fun while also making your heart squeeze with delight. A young woman is traveling to Florida to reunite her elderly neighbor, who has passed away, with her one true love. Travel mishaps along the way lead her to a broody and handsome writer, who needs her as inspiration.
Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
Yes, everyone has read it and yes, it is worth it. It’s a fun and wild ride (literally) and I look forward to the sequel!
The Followers by Bradeigh Godfrey
A surprise favorite! I listened to this on audio thanks to Libro.fm and it was a thrilling treat. I don’t read a lot of thrillers but I was intrigued by this and I really enjoyed the pacing, which is always what I turn to a thriller for! It’s out August 29.
Let me know your favorites of the Summer!
