What I Read in February 2023

I haven’t read less than ten books in a month in a long time. Like, YEARS. But this past month was one of the busiest I’ve had in a long time and I just couldn’t get into a good reading grove. My focus has been all over the place, I was in rehearsal or performances late, struggling to get out of bed in the morning…all things that impacted my reading routine.

Honestly, I didn’t have the urge to pick up a book to read in the same way. It’s been a theme for 2023 and it’s making me sad, but I know if I push myself too hard I’ll miss out on some really incredible books. I don’t want to hate a book because I’m in a slump. March is going to bring more balance and I’m very much looking forward to it.

February was a month of rereading some favorites via audio and two new romances that were duds. That also didn’t help get me into a good rhythm! I did read one new book I loved that has been recommended to me for months. Funny Feelings lived up to the hype and I loved it so much!

Icebreaker by Hannah Grace

I adore this hockey romance because it’s incredibly fun and sexy but It also showcases such healthy communication in a relationship.

Just My Type by Fallon Ballard

I wanted to love this book, because I ADORED Lease on Love…but it just didn’t vibe for me.

The Royal We by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan

I tell this story often, but Nick gifted me this book for my college graduation. He knew I loved following the royals and the love interests name is Prince Nicholas lol. The audio is so fun (with the exception of the narrator’s Yorkshire accent) and the friend group is one of the best I’ve read. It’s dated at some parts but I still enjoy reading it.

Lease on Love by Fallon Ballard

Another audio reread! I also love this friend group and Sadie’s zaniness. Jack is perfection.

Ruby Spencer’s Whiskey Year by Rochelle Bilow

I swooned for this cover and then 100% was bored reading this book. I was really sad because it seemed fun!

Funny Feelings by Tarah Dewitt

This book has been recommended to me for MONTHS and I finally read it and oh it is perfection. It’s about a stand up comedian and it’s fake dating!!!! So many things I love. Obsessed.
