2022 Favorite: Lifestyle/Products
in 2022, I tried to enjoy the nice things. I saw a post early in the year that discouraged the idea of “saving” things for the perfect time. In truth, there is rarely a perfect time to enjoy something but there is beauty and joy to be found in the everyday. It was something I struggled with but also tried my best to implement. I used my bath bombs, painted my nails, drank Prosecco on a Tuesday, read the books I was excited about, and said yes to plans even when I wanted to stay home.
Don’t get me wrong, there were plenty gloomy days and evenings in, but I really tried to make this a year of saying yes when I wanted to and no when I needed. I felt like this year flew by but when I sit here and reflect, 2022 was long and hard, but 2022 was also good.
I love journaling and reflecting on things and that goes for how I spent my money! I thought it would be fun to round up the 10 items I purchased this year that remain favorites and a worthwhile use of previous funds.
Nap Dress
I wear my Hill House Nap Dresses as much as I can. I love to dress them up and dress them down. As someone with a large chest, it is extremely affirming for me not to have to worry about zippers and feeling uncomfortable. I always feel confident, beautiful, and comfortable when I wear them. I’ve tried some dupes but honestly, the quality is so worth it to me. I wear them enough that the cost per wear pays off.
Chappy Wrap
I’ve heard about Chappy Wrap’s for YEARS. They’re a woman owned mother-daughter small business out of my native New England and I heard they were amazing, but I never wanted to spend $135 on a blanket. But there was a big sale this summer and the Hydrangea print kept nagging me…so I bought it. Now, I love it. They’re quality pieces that are meant to become family heirlooms. I love that thought process and it makes them the perfect gift.
Lake Pajamas
Another item I’ve seen online for years and loved the style of, but felt silly spending $100+ on pajamas. However, I could not get the Nutcracker print out of my head this holiday season, so I took advantage of the Black Friday sale and splurged. They are so luxurious and I look forward to putting them on after a long and cold day. Now I definitely need a non Christmassy pair for the Spring and Summer because they complete my self care after long, hard days. They also have robes, day dresses, loungewear and more.
Sun Bum Glow
This has become a go to in my skincare routine! I LOVE it. I wear it on its own and under my makeup. I love the glow it gives and i love how it melts into my skin. I thought I’d retire it after the summer, but i ended up wearing it into the Fall and Winter because i love the healthy glow it gives me.
Australian Gold BB Cream
Another skincare product and this time, a mattifying BB Cream. I always get compliments on my skin when I wear this. I always wear this on my own and it’s perfect for WFH days when I have lots of on camera meetings or running errands and don’t want to put on a full face of makeup. It’s a great price! The only bummer is that it has a very limiting shade rage, so I hope that changes soon.
Sorel Boots
So, funny story. In February, I was out walking Beasley and I fell on the ice. I hit my head, got a concussion, and still had to perform in my show that night. My aunt was pissed at me for not telling her and blamed my Hunter boots for my fall so she bought me a pair of these. I seriously love them though. They’re faux fur lined and so comfortable, plus they’re to get on and off. Critical to survive winter in Western New York.
Kindle Paperwhite Upgrade
Have you heard me sing the praises of my Kindle yet? Are you completely sick of me? Well I don’t care because it is my most used purchase of the year and I LOVE it. You won’t regret the purchase.
Shortie Uggs
I had a pair of these in high school and wore them with my uniform but now they’re back and I LOVE them. So perfect for travel, taking the dog out, errands. I love them when I don’t want a full boot but still want the warmth and coziness that Uggs offer.
Nail Polish Organization
Such a small thing but it’s made a huge difference in keeping my bathroom organized! It also allows me to see what I have so I’m not tempted to buy a new polish during every Target trip.
LL Bean Boat & Tote
I love LL Bean and the Ironic Boat & Tote took over the internet this Summer. I’m still mostly a classic gal, so I purchased a new one for us to use a beach and pool bag. I had it embroidered with “Lake” and it’s so perfect for us. We also got one for B so that when we travel, all her stuff can be easily transported.
I’d love to know your favorites!
