From My Home to Yours
If you’ve been reading and following for a while, you can probably tell I’m quite the sentimental person. With every year that passes, I am once again reminded of how special this community is. When I started Read & Wright, I thought I was doing some revolutionary but I discovered a whole online world where people love books just as much as I do.
This community has helped me grow as a reader and a human. I have never felt stronger in my beliefs, education, and willingness to learn than I have in the last four years. I started Read & Wright because I love to read, but in doing so I’ve learned I love stories and the human condition even more.
I used to peruse the bookstore or library and pick up any book that interested me. Now, I go to the bookstore on a mission. I have been exposed to so many outstanding authors that I’d never have picked up before I started this little project. I no longer choose my books based off the Goodreads Choice Awards or Celebrity Book Clubs. Are those great? Of course. But my reading life is more diverse now and richer than I could have imagined thanks to all the readers and writers I’ve discovered.
And I am so grateful for that, because it has made me a stronger human and someone willing to be loud to fight for the basic human rights of all people.
In my home, we celebrate Christmas. I know not everyone does, but since this is a special day for me, I wanted to take the time to thank you for being here. Whether you silently follow along and root for me, leave comments on every post, share my newsletter, or tell your friend about a book I recommended, you are making my world richer. And for that, I will never be able to say thank you enough.
