October Bucket List

I love making these monthly bucket lists. Because of what I do for work, I’m generally a month or season ahead, so they remind me to slow down and enjoy wherever I am in the moment. As Anne Shirley says, “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” Fun fact, I have never read Anne of Green Gables. Maybe I’ll change that but honestly, probably not. Thoughts on Anne with an E on Netflix??

I DIGRESS. I love October. I really get into the cozy Fall spirit and settle in to ride out the back half of the year. Which, as we all know, is the best half. The ‘ber months are where it’s at. So, here are some things I want to do in October!

Visit a Pumpkin Patch

A must! I think my favorite part of a pumpkin patch is the homemade goods you can buy. The breads and pies and cider make me so happy. Plus, we didn’t get any pumpkins last year! We NEED to get some for our balcony this time around.

Watch Hocus Pocus

I’m not a big Halloween person but I do love my annual viewing of Hocus Pocus. It’s one of my favorites! I’m so happy Disney+ has the old Disney Channel Original Movies because those are about as Halloweeny as I get lol.

Decide on a Couple Costume

I’m assuming there won’t be any Halloween parties this year (again) but since we have Beasley, I think it’s necessary for a family costume, even to just hang at home! What should we be??

Make a new Cocktail

Last year, I made my Apple Cider Mule and LOVED it. This year I need to find a new Fall cocktail to make. I’m leaning toward this Fall Gin & Tonic, Candy Corn Cocktail, and a Sage & Fig Cocktail.

Prep-Tober

I always have something on my monthly bucket lists around writing. November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) so I spend October prepping for it. Most of my creative energy goes toward writing in November so there is A LOT to do to get ready. I try to prep as much of my content as possible and finish up any freelance deadlines so that they’re not hanging over my head and I can spend more of my day writing.

Enjoy the Foliage

Nick loves to go on drives and there are so many areas of our new home we haven’t explored yet. What better time than a chilly Fall day with some coffee?

Go to a Corn Maze

I went to my first corn maze last year and had a blast! It was one of the few safe outdoor activities we could do and I can’t wait to go again this year!

Bake Pumpkin Bread

Necessary. And if you’re not adding chocolate chips to yours, you’re doing it wrong.

Carve a Pumpkin

Like I said, last year we didn’t get any pumpkins! I had a hard time getting into the Fall spirit since we had just moved. This year, we’re changing that.

Enjoy a Bonfire on a Chilly Night

This summer was wayyyyy too hot for bonfires and s’mores so an October fire it is!

Is there anything on your bucket list for October?
