Easy Bookish Halloween Costume Ideas
I know you’re probably sick of hearing it, but if you’ve been around the blog for a while, you know I am not a Halloween person. I never enjoyed it as a kid and always felt too much pressure during college. Plus, I was a theatre major so we had themed parties every weekend of the year. I did PLENTY of dressing up.
But, there’s something about a good pun costume or bringing a literary character to life that I just can’t seem to avoid every year. Especially since it seems Halloween has become more of a thing for social media than for parties, right? If i’m wearing a costume it will be on my couch or handing out candy, waiting for midnight so I can start listening to Christmas music.
Audrey Hepburn Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Madeline Martha Mackenzie from Big Little Lies—I did this one in 2017 and it was SO FUN and so easy. I made my eye mask myself with an old tank top and false lashes. My earrings were also homemade but tassel earrings are so easy to find these days!
Give a Mouse a Cookie—Cute, easy, and very versatile for school or an office. Plus it can be a single or duo costume!
Ears // Overalls Plus // Overalls //
A Little Free Library/Indie Bookstore—These two could be a great way to get rid of those unread book or clear your shelves right? Trick or treating with books! The dream! I thought the Indie Bookstore was so funny but it could also be a cute way to promote your own bookstore or the one in your community by passing out bookmarks, buttons, or stickers.
Beanie // Disposable Coffee Cups // Original Idea from Penguin Random House //
Bookworm—Another easy one and I think would go over well with kids!
Antenna Headband // Green Dress //
Fifty Shades of Gray—This one is very Jim from The Office and I gotta say, I’m here for it.
