9 Books I Wish I Could Read for the First Time (Again)
It’s no secret that I’m a big re-reader and I tend to lean on my comfort reads when I need a little lift. My comfort reads are not always books I wish I could read for the first time again, because their comforting nature grows with each read. But some books I associate with a time or place or even a feeling and I wish I could experience them for the very first time again!
A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas—If you’ve been following along for a while, this isn’t a surprise. This is one of those books that kept my on my toes and warmed my heart at the same time. It’s action filled, romantic, a little spicy, and just so good. It’s an all time favorite but I do wish I could go back to that first read.
Legendborn by Tracey Deonn—I LOVE this book. It’s another one that kept me totally surprised and intrigued so I’d love to read it again for the first time and record my reactions.
Madison Kate Series by Tate James—Have I talked about it enough? This series just kept surprising me so I totally wish I could go back to recreating that “high” it gave me. If you haven’t read it, it’s a dark romance so check the trigger warning before reading. My review is here!
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas—I can vividly remember where I was when I started this book and finished it. It was a Friday afternoon on the subway and it came in from my library holds. I started reading it right away and then canceled my evening plans to keep reading. I woke up on a deliciously rainy Saturday morning and finished it before even making my coffee. Angie Thomas’ writing is unmatched.
The Seven Husband’s of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid—I read this book in one sitting and it was a book that reminded me why I LOVE reading. It’s not perfect and definitely stars some really questionable characters, but TJR’s writing is so hypnotic and electric.
You Had Me at Hola by Alexis Daria—This was my favorite romance of 2020 and got me out of a really rough time in my life. I read it when I was living at home with my parents, after Nick lost his job due to the pandemic and we had to make the really hard decision to leave the city. It just brightened my spirit so much. It’s also really spicy and fun!
Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender—This book about identity, love, and friendship had me smiling from ear to ear. It’s one of my top recommendations and I really wish I could go back to reading it for the first time because it made my heart burst with hope.
Recursion by Blake Crouch—File this under “Books I Never Though I’d Read But Won’t Shut Up About.” This science fiction/love story gripped me from the first page and even when it was slightly difficult to understand, I still was all in. I just loved it.
Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel—This book is a bit polarizing but I loved it. It was lyrical and raw, following a Shakespeare company work to keep art alive after a Pandemic ( 😅). It was unexpected and weird and heartfelt. An all time fav of mine.
