What I Read in July 2021
July was a GREAT reading month and honestly, a great mental health month for me. I’m not ready to say goodbye to summer just yet, so I’m holding onto summer reads and long evenings. I’m hoping next month we can sneak away but this summer has just FLOWN. It feels like yesterday we were in Lake Placid with the whole season stretched out before us.
I read 12 books this month! It’s amazing how much it can help my mental health to prioritize it.
Rock the Boat by Beck Dorey-Stein—I highly anticipated read that I think I read at the wrong time. Still, I enjoyed this summer read set in a beach town in NJ. Review
Ace of Spades by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé—All I can say about this book is WOW. Review
The Tiger Mom’s Tale by Lyn Liao Butler—This book surprised me! I liked it a lot. Review
It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey—Such a fantastic summer romance! Schitt’s Creek meets The Simple Wild. Review
The Rural Diaries by Hilarie Burton Morgan—After listening to the Drama Queen podcast, I wanted more from the One Tree Hill girls! Hilarie’s story was surprising and the book is structured like a fairytale.
While We Were Dating by Jasmine Guillory—Jasmine’s best! This is the last book in The Wedding Date universe and I think it was the best yet.
The Dating Dare by Jayci Lee—Eh, this book was cute but also kinda cringey. It wasn’t for me.
Survive the Night by Riley Sager—This is a fast read that will keep you turning the pages, but not necessarily my favorite Sager. Review
The Summer of Broken Rules by K.L. Walther—I LOVED THIS BOOK! A mature YA set on Martha’s Vineyard.
We Are the Brennans by Tracey Lange—Coming from an Irish Catholic family, the synopsis of this book grabbed me instantly. I really really liked it!
Blackout by Angie Thomas, Dhonielle Clayton, Tiffany D. Jackson, Nic Stone. Ashley Woodfolk, Nicola Yoon—Give me anything written by the authors please. So good!
Love Scenes by Bridget Morrissey—Cute, not steamy at all, and glamorous. A romance on a Hollywood movie set!
And that’s what I read! Did you have a favorite read this month?
