January Audiobook Round Up

I listened to so many amazing audiobooks this month! I truly believe it’s given me such a wonderful zen. It makes me feel better and calmer about having to get chores done. Laundry, dishes, and cleaning the floors don’t seem as daunting, knowing I have a book to join me. AND with libro.fm, I can support my favorite independent bookstores. I really can’t recommend it enough! I think I talk a lot about how difficult fiction audiobooks can be for me to focus on, because there tend to me so many characters. But I listened to some GREAT nonfiction pieces this month and I like that I use my audio time to venture into nonfiction.

Born A Crime by Trevor Noah—This is a total 5 star read. Trevor is HILARIOUS but his story is so important as well. I loved learning more about South Africa, plus his mom, Patricia, is a total badass. I think it’s being made into a movie. Noah’s book is funny but also incredibly heartbreaking. It’s a well balanced read and I can’t recommend it enough! Also, check out his Netflix special because it’s amazing.

Home Work by Julie Andrews—I can’t imagine reading this one as a physical copy because Julie narrates it herself and it’s delightful. I loved hanging out with Queen Clarice for a couple hours every day. Honestly, I think this one might be a little dry if you read the physical copy. The audio pulls you in because it’s Maria Von Trap reading to you!

The Only Plane in the Sky by Garrett M. Graff—I reviewed this on my Instagram at the end of review week and it was a tough one for me to get through but one I’m ultimately very glad I took the time to read.

Maybe You Should Talk to Someone by Lori Gottlieb—THIS BOOK! It has been everywhere and I honestly resisted it for so long because I was afraid of what it would tell me about myself *crying laughing emoji here* but it is 100% worth the hype and I think everyone NEEDS to read it. I think it would be fantastic on audio or the physical form!
