Blogmas: Christmas Traditions in NYC

If you follow me on Instagram, #selfpromo, you would have seen the little tour I shared of the Macy’s Christmas Floor. Every year, the week before Thanksgiving, my friend Megan and I visit the store to kick off the Christmas season. Megan was my first friend that I made on my own in New York City and I am so grateful for her friendship!

The Christmas floor is located at Macy’s Herald Square and it is NOT the same thing as Santaland (which is where you can meet Santa. It’s nuts and not worth it, IMO.)

You can scroll through the pictures to see the different themed trees! They have a great NYC section, which I typically choose one from each year. But there are also Harry Potter sections, and Irish tree, food and drinks, nutcrackers, the whole nine yards!

This year, the gingham and buffalo check were my weakness! I have always been a fan of the print but it’s become kind of trendy lately, but I’m not complaining because it’s been EVERYWHERE!

Megan and I started added to the tradition last year to start the night at The Churchill, which is one of my favorite bars and restaurants all year but especially at Christmas! They have the best decor!

Then we walk over to Macy's and depending on the crowds, we’ll sneak a look at the windows. They aren’t too impressive this year, but the Saks windows totally are!

Then we head into Macy’s and make sure we find the Thanksgiving Parade merchandise! It’s exclusive to the Herald Square location. I get a mug each year for my mom and I to enjoy our Thanksgiving coffee in! And then we head up to the 9th floor and have so.much.fun.

We each always choose an ornament and sometimes a few other pieces of decor because when you go the week before Thanksgiving, it is all 60-70% off! It's such a good deal, you can’t miss out.

I’m a nostalgic person so I just love having a tradition with a friend who is so special to me. Megan, you’re the best! If you’re looking for any last minute gifts, she does personalized cross stitches that are amazing!
