Review Round Up: New Releases

Tuesday’s are for new releases and reviews! I’ve had a lot of fun getting into the holiday spirit early with these new releases!

Christmas Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella

Truth time: I’ve never read any of the other Shopaholic books. But I have seen the movie! But I couldn’t pass up a copy of Christmas Shopaholic when Random House sent it to me! After reading this one, I don’t think you need to read any of the others to understand it, especially if you’ve seen the movie! Any other Hugh Dancy fans? I’ve been a big fan of his since Ella Enchanted. Hello, dreamy. It was a solid 3 stars for me, cause it’s enjoyable and christmasy but I definitely wasn’t moved to read the rest of the series. Just not my thing! But if you loved the others, I’m sure you’ll love this one!

Let it Snow by Nancy Thayer

If you’ve been around here awhile, you know I’m a huge Elin Hilderbrand fan. Nancy Thayer similarly writes novels set on Nantucket. I’ve read one other Christmas novel by her, An Island Christmas, and it was perfectly adorable and totally what you’d expect. I’m going to read Let It Snow on the plane tomorrow and I expect to fly through it. Here’s the synopsis:

“Christina Antonioni is preparing for the holidays at her Nantucket toy shop, unpacking last-minute shipments and decorating for her loyal Christmas shoppers. But when her Scrooge of a landlord, Oscar Bittlesman, raises her rent, it seems nearly impossible for Christina to continue business on the wharf.

Even so, Christina hopes there is a warm heart underneath Oscar’s steely exterior. When she bonds with Wink, his sweet, young granddaughter who frequents the shop, it becomes clear that perhaps he isn’t so cold after all. And with the help of Wink’s uncle, who happens to be a charming and very handsome bachelor, this may be the best Christmas any of them could have ever imagined. Nancy Thayer’s enchanting Nantucket setting provides the perfect backdrop for this holiday love story.”

Wild Game by Adrienne Brodeur

I’m also hoping to read this one my flight tomorrow, since it came in my October Book of the Month box! If you’d like to sign up and try it out, you can use my link and get a free book with your first order!

Wild Game is a brilliant, timeless memoir about how the people close to us can break our hearts simply because they have access to them, and the lies we tell in order to justify the choices we make. It's a remarkable story of resilience, a reminder that we need not be the parents our parents were to us.”

Are you excited for all the holiday themed books coming out?

Thank you to Random House for the gifted copies!
