Escaping into a book is a surefire way to have the summer of your dreams. These books all have Summer in the title and while they aren’t all light and fluffy, they will transport you to the lake, beach, or camp to make your Summer feel like a perfect escape no matter where you’re spending it.
Every Summer After by Carley Fortune
One of my all time favorite Summer reads, especially if you like the friends to lovers trope and messy characters. It’s also set in a small lakeside town in Canada!
Summer Sister by Judy Blume
Continuing with the theme of messy and adolescents, wooooowee is this book messy. It’s also very atmospheric on Martha’s Vineyard and will suck you right in.
Summer Romance by Annabel Monaghan
If you’re looking for a book with a main character in her forties, you will love this book. it’s about a woman who is rediscovering herself after motherhood, losing her own mother, and divorce. But it’s still bright and summery! Annabel Monaghan is such a talent.
That Summer Feeling by Bridget Morrissey
A queer romance set at adult Summer camp! This book made me want to go to sleepaway camp immediately.
Summer Stage by Meg Mitchell Moore
As a theatre girl, I loved this book about a production set on the small island of Block Island. It has romance, rich people problems, and a beachy setting.
The Summer of Broken Rules by K.L. Walther
Another book set on Martha’s Vineyard that is a perfect book for Swifties!
Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson
I have become a lake girl in my late twenties and early thirties so I love the setting of this book, as well as how it explores grief.
It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey
Pure fun and hot summer spice from Tessa Bailey. It’s also set in the PNW, which is a place I am dying to visit!
28 Summers by Elin Hilderbrand
If you like books that make you think and have messy, imperfect characters, this is the summer read for you.
