9 Backlist Summer Reads
I will not stop screaming about Summer reading or sharing Summer reading recs!!! One thing I am always trying to improve upon is making sure I am sharing enough backlist books for my library readers. Unfortunately, library holds can be a little long. But! Have no fear. I have plenty of books to share from Summers past. All of these have stayed with me and exude summer vibes, whether you summer on the beach, lake, or boat!
Every Summer After by Carley Fortune
If it’s a summer book list from me, this book is going on it. It’s a second chance romance set on a lake in a small town in Canada. It’s a book that holds a lot of special memories to me and has such a visceral summery feel.
The Rumor by Elin Hildebrand
Everyone loves a beach read and this author has often been called the queen of the Beach Read. This has always been a favorite of mine because it’s full of drama and to this day, I wonder about the ending.
Do I Know You by Emily Wibberly and Austin Siegemund-Brokka
Maybe it’s the nostalgia of Summer, but I love to read second chance romances this time of year. This isn’t quite a traditional marriage in crisis, but rather a marriage in crisis romance, that feels so summery and full of heat.
That Summer Feeling by Bridget Morrissey
Adult summer camp! And a great book to read during Pride month as it is about coming out later in life.
The Beach Trap by Ali Brady
The Parent Trap meets Fixer Upper set in Destin, FL (cue florida!!!)
Luck and Last Resorts by Sarah Grunder Ruiz
This book has Below Deck vibes which is definitely a show I love to watch in the summertime.
Montauk by Nicola Harrison
If you’re a historical fiction reader but still want a little beachy action, this book is set in the 1920’s in the Hamptons, the time period that made it a must be destination for New Yorkers.
The Royals Next Door by Karina Halle
Another lake in Canada, but a little bit more humor in this one! It’s about a teacher who gets new neighbors…who happen to be loosely based on Harry and Meghan. Their bodyguard is a handsome grump and sparks fly.
Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson
This is a YA book that broke my heart. It’s such a powerful story about friendship, first love, and grief.
