2024 Halfway Top 10
One of my favorite things to do at the end of June is to look at the books I’ve read so far this year and pull out the stand out favorites, the five star reads, the books I can’t stop thinking about it. As of right now, I’ve read 72 books. When I was reviewing my 2024 reads thus far, I was a little disappointed to find that it was hard to pull out 10 books that stood out as favorites. Don’t get me wrong, I love the books below. Truly loved them! All 5 star reads for me. But, I want to look at the books I’ve read throughout the year and struggle to only pull 10 favorites.
I guess I want to find a little bit more joy in my reading the rest of the year and less pressure. Let me know what your favorites of the year are so far!
Happy Medium by Sarah Adler
I have screamed about this book since I read it in March but it will remain a favorite for years to come! It was a little magical, a little bit of small town charm like Gilmore Girls, and a lot fun.

Summer Romance by Annabel Monaghan
Annabel Monaghan’s books always seem to make it onto my favorites lists and I think it’s because she has the distinct ability to keep her books paced so well. They’re so easy to read because you HAVE to keep reading. This has an older main character too, finding love and herself again after losing herself to motherhood, divorce, and grief.

Funny Story by Emily Henry
This book is so charming. I loved Daphne and Miles and found the banter to be top notch. Here’s my EmHen ranking: Happy Place, Funny Story, Book Lovers, People We Meet on Vacation, Beach Read.

A Love Song for Ricki Wilde by Tia Williams
This is not only a fantastic audiobook but another romance that has some magical elements. I guess that’s what I’m really liking in 2024!

The Game Changer by Lana Ferguson
Okay, honestly…can’t believe this is on the list after I didn’t vibe with The Fake Mate…but wow this book is FUN. Brother’s best friend, hockey, professional athlete/celebrity baker! Flew through it.

The Paradise Problem by Christina Lauren
Now this is a summer romance book. This is one of Christina Lauren’s best, probably since The Unhoneymooners! Billionaire romance, fake dating/marriage of convenience, sexy island setting. It has it all!

Triple Sec by TJ Alexander
TJ Alexander is another author that always finds their way onto my favorites list because like Emily Henry, they create the best banter and romantic situations. This book is a polyamorous rom com, which I haven’t read in the trad pub space before. I thought it was great and I really loved the characters and their conversations.

The Ex Vows by Jessica Joyce
I am obsessed with this book and the writing. It felt so elevated while still being trope-y and fun. It’s one of those books I will recommend for anyone looking for a “literary” style Romance.

This Could Be Us by Kennedy Ryan
If you want to read a book that is going to make you FEEL, look no further than Kennedy Ryan’s books but especially this series. Before I Let Go was on my favorites last year and I’m glad to say her latest made it too.

I HAVE TO ADD ONE MORE! Like I said, I might be updating this list and I have to with :
NOT ANOTHER LOVE SONG by Julie Soto.
WOW WOW WOW. I think this might be in the running for my favorite book of the year. It’s out July 16 and it is such a passionate, visceral, wonderful Romance novel. A triumph of the genre!
