Updated Kindle Review: Oasis vs. Kindle

Ever since I got my first e-reader, I completely converted to it. I LOVE my e-readers and I never thought I would. I love that I can pack it full of books, that it’s lightweight, fits in even my smallest purses, and allows me to read in the bath and at the pool since it’s waterproof! But I do owe you an updated post on how my feelings on the Kindle Oasis have changed. Because, if you can believe it, I have come to LOVE my Oasis.

Which I was so excited to tell you, but then I started to notice that the Kindle Oasis wasn’t available to purchase all the time. I follow Tessa from The Lit Homebody on Instagram and she is the ultimate Kindle source. Apparently, the Oasis is being discontinued because a new Kindle is being launched in 2025…with color technology! You can read more about it here but it looks like there will be a 6in and 10in model. So maybe there will be a new version of the Oasis along with the classic and Paperwhite.

But until then, they do come in and out of stock from time to time, especially with refurbished options. So if you really want the Oasis, hopefully this update can help you decide if it’s worth the trouble to track it down. Also, if you purchased an Oasis and are unsure if it was the right decision, maybe this will help you realize that you can come around to it! I seriously love mine.

Since I wrote this post in October, my Oasis has become my primary e-reader. I picked it up in December because my Paperwhite needed to charge and everything felt different. I love how it fits in my hand, I love how sleek it is. I love the buttons and that it’s a little faster than my Paperwhite. It still feels like a book, but that rotating screen is a game changer. It seriously makes me read so much faster and I don’t mistakenly turn the page before I’m ready since it has the buttons. I still love my Paperwhite and it easier to travel with, because it’s every so slightly smaller, but my Oasis is that girl. That’s all I can say.
