What I Read in January 2024
We did it, we made it through January. One of the most exciting parts of this January 31st is that the sun is shining and if that’s not a sign of brighter days to come, I don’t know what is. I was a little nervous that January wouldn’t be a great reading month for me but I did manage to turn it around halfway through the month! I read ten books and got back into a good reading groove. I definitely miss my morning reading routine and that’s definitely something I want to try to get back into in February.
I’d love to know what your favorite book of the month was!
The Break Up Tour by Emily Wibberly and Austin Siegemund-Broka
I was SO excited for this book and while I liked it, it didn’t hit the way I was hoping it would. I LOVED their last book so I was sad it didn’t work for me but if you love a good emotional, cerebral romance, I think you’ll enjoy it!
Liar’s Beach by Kate Contugno
This was the perfect palette cleanser. While I didn’t love the ending, I was a huge fan of the setting. I love a YA thriller that pulls me in and I can read quickly.
My Name is Barbra by Barbra Streisand
The longest audiobook in the world but I loved all the information Babs shared in this book! She is so thorough and detailed and smart. I knew she was talented but I really didn’t know much about her directing, which was so exciting to read about.
The Catch by Amy Lea
This was such a wonderful surprise for me. I really enjoyed it and the setting was magical. Here for a grumpy lobster fisherman!
Canadian Boyfriend by Jenny Holiday
This is one of those books that makes me love Romance. It was simple and fun and swoony and perfect to read in January. It’s about real people, struggling with different aspects of their life
Last Call at the Local by Sara Grunder Ruiz
I did the audio on this one which was a great choice for all the Irish accents, but I didn’t really enjoy the story. However, I found the mental health representation to be really important and is another reason why I love Romance so much.
Raiders of the Lost Heart by Jo Segura
This was super fun! I loved how the author wrote the action sequences, which can sometimes feel drawn out. It was a great read!
Right on Cue by Fallon Ballard
I was SO excited that this book worked for me. The author’s debut, Lease on Love, is one of my all time favorites but her sophomore novel fell flat for me. I LOVED the characters and setting in this book, plus I’m always down for a celebrity romance.
One in a Millennial by Kate Kennedy
Kate Kennedy’s writing is next level creative. She really opens up in this book and it meant so much to me as I’m struggling through a difficult time at the moment. It made me nostalgic and laugh, which is all you can ask for sometimes.
The Fake Mate by Lana Ferguson
There is a book out there for everyone…but this one wasn’t for me.
Fangirl Down by Tessa Bailey
A lot of Tessa’s books haven’t been working for me lately but this felt like a return to the Tessa I fell in love with!
