An Update on my Summer Bucket + Reading Lists

Summer has come and gone (except for the HEATWAVE we’re having in Western New York this week!) and I wanted to reflect on the bucket list I set for myself for the season. The Summer was absolutely packed, from working theatre camp to travel to celebrations, that I felt like I didn’t accomplish anything! But, looking back at this list, I actually did so much.

I’m extra sad to say goodbye to Summer this year because I feel like I didn’t have enough days at the pool after August was pretty rainy, but I’m so grateful for the time I did have and I plan to continue soaking in the sunshine until the first frost hits!

  1. Play Tennis Weekly

Yeah, this didn’t happen. But lots of golf did!

  2. Finish Current Writing Project

Sadly, not a lot of writing happened after the first week of July. I just didn’t have the time and I’m so sad about it! I need to make time in September.

  3. Beach Days

    Check! And loved them.

  4. Make S’mores

Check a million times over and they were DELICIOUS.

  5. Schedule a Week Long Vacation

    SUPER CHECK!

  6. Solidify Early Morning Routine

It wasn’t perfect (and a Summer cold really threw me off) but Nick and I have both settled into a great morning routine and it’s making us feel incredible.

  7. Unhaul Unread Books

Took until Labor Day Weekend, but I did it and WOW does it feel good.

  8. Organize Storage Closet

Working on it this week and weekend! It’s 90 degrees, it’s basically still Summer.

  9. Enjoy a Writing Retreat

This didn’t happen and I’m devastated it didn’t, but I think I’m going to plan one solo. I deserve it and I need it!

  10. Make a Summer Playlist

Mostly Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) but I love it.

  11. Set my OOO for a Week Long Vacation

This is what I am most proud of myself for doing. It felt so good and I feel like I truly relaxed for the first time in two years. I need to do it more often!

  12. Journal Every Day

Nope…but I was never at my desk cause of camp!

  13. Make Our Wedding Album

    LOL nope. Maybe Winter break.

  14. Visit the Farmer’s Market

We went to one In Saranac Lake and it was lovely.

  15. Plan a Picnic

Didn’t happen, but I think we might do a picnic at the drive in this weekend!

Now, when it comes to my reading list, I didn’t read nearly as much as I thought I would. Summer was packed with events, traveling to Boston, Connecticut, New Jersey, California, and the Lake. And on those trips, I just wanted to present! I think Fall will be my reading season. Vacation got me in a good groove and I plan to stick with it.

But, all this to say: If you’re reading life looks different than others or than you thought, that’s okay. It doesn’t make you any less valid. There will always be more time and more books.
