Get Lost in a Book: My Summer TBR

Last Summer, I created a Summer Reading Challenge for myself and this community. I did not succeed at the challenge in the slightest, mostly because my acting schedule kept me far too busy to read the way I wanted to. Contrary to popular believe, I wouldn’t consider myself a fast reader. And I think in the past year, as life “reopened” as the pandemic guidelines loosened, I’ve gotten even slower. It feels like my focus is non-existent and I struggle not to compare myself to others.

I started Read & Wright for me. But over the years, it’s become a place for others. And I LOVE that we’ve built such a wonderful community. But in the process, I’ve learned a whole lot about social media. And most especially, how social media affects me.

I am dubbing this the Summer of Creativity. I want it to be the Summer where I’m up early, moving my body and getting my writing juices flowing. I want it to be the Summer I’m reading by the pool for hours, feeling the sun soak into my skin. I want it to the Summer of late (sober) nights, fires and s’mores, stories capturing my heart. I want it to be a Summer of presence.

I have no intentions of moving away from social media. Personally, I love it. I love feeling creative and writing blog posts and taking photos and making videos. I genuinely love it so much. What I don’t love is feeling like I am a failure, when I see others have success I’m not. I want to redefine what “success” is for me in this social media space and I’m going to use my Summer TBR to help.

These are all from my physical TBR. I know. Some are ARCS publishing in the Fall, others are backlist titles I’ve collected and neglected.
