October Bucket List

Ah, aren’t you glad you live in a world with Octobers? I hate the cheesiness of some Fall quotes, but Anne Shirley is not one of them. September was a glorious month. After coming back from vacation so relaxed, we really set the tone for the rest of the year with our decluttering and relaxation. I love Fall weekends so much and October is going to be busy, but WONDERFUL. I am so excited!

We have a wedding on the Cape which I can’t wait for. Fall in New England is something special and since my parents sold my childhood home (😢 ) I am so glad I’ll still get to experience a piece of it. But other than that, it is going to be a month of creativity, theatre, and writing! And of course, lots of reading.

  1. Visit a Pumpkin Patch

A classic and so important. I love visiting a pumpkin patch on a chilly October weekend, especially if there is a corn maze and other fun Fall activities.

  2. Carve a Pumpkin

We have literally failed at this every year since we’ve moved and this year I am DETERMINED to actually do it! I love carving pumpkins, why did we ever stop?

  3. Visit a Brewery/Winery

Before the snow comes, I want to enjoy a brewery/winery day! We actually have a lot near us and there are some incredibly beautiful locations during peak Fall foliage.

  4. Read a Book in a Day

Picture me on a cozy, chilly, cloudy weekend with the house to myself. It must be the perfect book and I’ve got some contenders!

  5. Fall Foliage Hike

We love hiking! We’ve never visited Letworth State Park so I think that’s where we’re going to make it happen! It’s a gorgeous place.

  6. Prep-Tober

Like every October, I am preparing for NaNoWriMo in November! I love to use this month to bang out a first draft and I am so excited for this year’s writing project. Like, so excited.

  7. Tailgate a Football Game

I LOVE a food tailgate and a good tailgate spread. It gets too cold in November and December so we’re gonna make it happen in October!

  8. Watch My Favorite Sweet Halloween Movies

I am simply not a scary movie kind of girl. Give me festive and silly all day, please! So I’ll be watching the likes of Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown, The Phantom of the Megaplex and more Disney Channel classics.

  9. Bake a New Recipe

I haven’t been baking or cooking as much as I like and I want to change that! I really like to keep our Fall weekends lowkey so there’s time to enjoy the small creature comforts. I’m thinking apple crisp bars!

  10. Journal Daily

I got back into this habit in September and i want to keep it up! I’ve kept a journal since I was nine but 2023 has been the worst year for my journaling. I struggled with my mental health a lot in the late Winter and Spring, so I avoided opening the blank pages. I was genuinely so scared of it but after a Summer taking care of myself and soaking in all the Vitamin D I could, I feel a lot more confident being honest with myself.
