Weekly Wrap Up 1/6/23
I always anticipate the first week back after the winter holidays to be tough, but this week was incredibly emotional. We had been looking forward to Monday Night Football and a huge game to cheer on our Buffalo Bills when the game was suspended to a tragedy on the field. Thankfully, Damar Hamlin seems to be showing positive progress. It’s hard to describe what the Bills mean to me and what they mean to the city. I grew up in Connecticut, but my dad is from Buffalo and I ended up married to a Buffalo boy too. I grew up with the Bills in their “drought” era. They were the laughing stock of the NFL and it was particularly hard to be a Bills fan during the Brady/Belichick Patriots’ era.
Since the 2020 season, the Bills have been building a really successful organization. But the support of the team never waivered even after four consecutive Super Bowl losses, a seventeen year playoff drought, and a couple devastating season losses. People love the Bills like family, so seeing one of our players in a life threatening situation (after all the other tragedy the city has suffered in the laught 8 months) was incredibly difficult..
We are so happy Damar seems to be doing well and cannot wait for him to see how many people are pulling for him. If you’d like to donate to his charity, The Chasing M’s Foundation, you can find it here.
I am finding my footing with 2023 reading. I was quite distracted between the news, getting back to work, and resetting my sleep schedule, but I still managed to read some great books. Happy New Year, friends. I can’t wait to keep sharing exciting content with you in 2023.

Weekend Plans:
It’s gonna be a nicely balanced weekend with some social plans and relaxing. We have a “redo” Christmas with Nick’s family since the blizzard left everyone snowed in and I’m hosting some friends for a viewing of the new season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. It is also time to take down my Christmas decor, le sigh.
Have a great weekend and happy reading!
