What I Read in January 2023 + Favorites of the Month

Oh, January. The longest and darkest month of year, full of exhaustion and new beginnings. It always feels like the days of January are long but the month flies by. I can’t believe we’re one month into 2023! Since i always share my monthly buckets lists, I think I’m going to start including some of my favorite moments from the month.

Winter Storms by Elin Hilderbrand (reread)

I reread the first three books in this series at Christmas this year and finished up the third on New Years Day.

The Make Up Test by Jenny L. Howe

Did this on audio and it made me irrationally angry.

Snowed In by Krista Wolf

I have been loving seasonal reads so I dove into this steamy and spicy Why Choose? romance set in an abandoned ski lodge during an avalanche. There are some parts that were extremely unbelievable but hey, i’m here for a good time not a long time.

Spare by Prince Harry

I’m glad Harry got to tell his version of his story and I’ll leave it at that!

As Good As Dead by Holly Jackson

This book sent me into a TIZZY. It was not what I was expecting at all and I want justice for Ravi.

In the Weeds by B. K. Borrison

I wasn’t a huge fan of Lovelight Farms…I know I know, unpopular opinion. But I was charmed by In the Weeds on audio!

In Every Generation a Slayer Is Born: How Buffy Slayed Our Hearts by Evan Ross Katz

I was a huge BUFFY fan when I was younger and all the facts that came out about Joss Whedon’s treatment of women on the set really broke me. I thought that the author did a really good job of honoring the fandom while still being truthful with the realities of how the show got made.

Resting Scrooge Face by Megan Quinn

This novella was fine…I think I would have enjoyed it more with my eyes than with my ears, but it was cute.

Bright Winter Lights by Liz Maverick

Some audible originals are included in KU subscriptions and this is one that was overflow from my December TBR. I’m always looking to add more Jewish winter holiday reads to my recommendation lists and I liked this fake dating/second chance romance!

Consider Me by Becka Mack

Holy hockey romance. Can’t wait to read book two!

Love at Frost Sight by Torie Jean

Christmas isn’t over until I say it’s over. And it WASN’T for January.

The Fake Holidate by Amie Knight

Less than 100 pages and super fun to breeze through in you need something festive!

January Favorites

January was such a fun and busy month. I went back into rehearsals for a new project and I’m in rehearsals to remount an old one as well (we transferred to a bigger venue! very exciting!). My college roommate came to visit, we went ice skating, enjoyed a couple snow days. It was a good start to the year!
