No Buy January & My Declutter Plan

Every couple of months, I like to refocus my spending habits with a No Buy Month. I’ve done No Buy July and No Buy January and it’s a great way to take a look at where and how I’m spending my money. I’ve been saying this for months, but I really am at a breaking point. Our home is full of stuff. We are so lucky and so blessed, but so much of it is sentimental things we are holding onto that we don’t need, clothes that no longer fit and excess. Part of my job requires me to share things and I love to curate all the fun lists, but between unworn clothes and unread books, I simply have way too much.

So this month, since it’s a relatively slow month, I am going to do a No Buy January and a structured plan to declutter my space for the next 31 days.

I think there’s this pressure to have everything be in order by January 1 and if you didn’t get It together, the whole “new year new me” energy is a wash. I actually think it’s the opposite. January can be such a hard month, so why not choose some things to focus on instead? I know at the end of the month I will feel lighter and more focused and honestly, I can’t wait.

I will check off each section as I go! As you’re reading this, will have already finished my first weekend of Declutter January! While I’m spending the month going through what I need to donate, I will make note of what is missing from my closet. This will help me make smarter decisions while shopping and hopefully, allow me to make more sustainable choices in the brands I support. I’ll be cataloging my spending habits on the template below! You can go to my Instagram if you’d like your own. Use emojis to represent the spending habits!
