Halloween Romances on Kindle Unlimited

I love reading on a theme and reading seasonally. I’m not a huge Halloween girl but in the last couple years, I’ve definitely found a lot of joy in reading dark romance. I don’t read a lot of thrillers, but dark romance scratches that itch for something that pulls me out of reality and adds to some thrill to my reading life. But I also love some cheesy Hallmark-y small town vibes for Autumn!

As with all dark romance, I recommend double checking any trigger warnings (i love to use Story Graph for this as well as the authors’ websites!) and to be mindful of your reading taste. If you’re on BookTok at all, you know that people feel pretty passionately about the genres they love. I love to try genres outside my comfort zone but if it’s not for me, it doesn’t invalidate the genre!

There are a couple books that fall into the “why choose”* category as well, meaning one girl and many love interests!

*I used to refer to this as RH or Reverse Harem but I’ve since learned of some discourse on the term and will no longer be using it to respect those that were bothered by it!

A Lady of Rooksgrave Manor by Kathryn Moon

“On the brink of losing her position as a maid and with no prospects to go on, the offer of a place at Rooksgrave Manor—a house of ill and unusual repute—sounds like a perfect fit for a young woman with Esther’s inclinations. Even better, the invitation comes by the hand of the handsome Dr. Underwood, a delicate gentleman with a ferocious alter ego who knows exactly what he wants from Esther.
Upon arrival, the men and the daily decadence of the manor feel too good to be true for a girl of Esther’s station. There are rules to be followed, expectations to meet, and Esther is afraid she might be too wicked even for a place like Rooksgrave.
Temptations lurk around every shadowy corner and Esther has never been a girl able to resist. But the risk of disappointing her new gentlemen isn’t all that’s threatening Esther’s new position. Rooksgrave Manor’s protections for its unusual patrons are failing, the wards are crumbling, and Esther’s new and exquisitely pleasurable life may all come tumbling down.” —Amazon

Awkward in October by Theresa Yea

“My name is Theodora Dy. I’m single and live with my parents. I may be existing, but I sure as hell am not thriving. I want more out of life before resigning myself to decrepit spinsterhood. I want adventures and mistakes, balmy summer nights and stirring rooftop conversations. I want a beautiful romance. Like something ripped straight out of the pages of The Witch of Blackbird Pond, my favorite book of all time. But that’s all wishful thinking until I commit to a dramatic change. So I quit my job. Purchased a cheap old house sight unseen and booked a one-way ticket to Connecticut where autumn is in full swing and Halloween is just around the corner. I may be living my best life, but I’m in over my head. My fixer upper is falling apart and my big stupid gesture is sucking my bank account dry. Fortunately, my grumpy neighbor, Carter, knows a thing or two about repairing ‘money pits’ (his words, not mine) He’s perfectly practical in every way. I’m a hopeless romantic. We’re as opposite as two people can be. But unbeknownst to him or me…In October any wonderful unexpected thing might be possible. Even the beginning of a beautiful romance.” —Amazon
