The 2022 Fall Reading Guide

Say it with my folks: it’s the MOST wonderful time of the year! The Ber months are upon us and I know everyone is so excited for this cozy time of year. While I will be hanging onto the long days, there’s nothing quite like pumpkin flavored everything, apple picking, and a chill in the air. I love Fall and the holidays so much…I just know that they bring me closer to the dreaded Buffalo winter. So, I’ll be soaking in the crisp leaves and twinkle lights!

Here are all the books on my radar that are releasing this Fall. As always, a separate Holiday Reading Guide will be coming in November! I have read most of these books and share my thoughts. If I haven’t, it’s clearly marked!

New Releases Available

Ben and Beatriz by Katalina Gamara

A little competitive academia mixed with Shakespeare is perfect for Fall! This was a fun read. The characters are in college but I do think it still reads a little young. However, it’s a quick read and if you love Shakespeare like me, it’s a fun time!

In the Event of Love by Courtney Kae

Amazon | Bookshop.org

If you’re looking for something that has a hint of holiday magic and a delicious wintry setting, look no further! It’s a little Hallmark-After-Dark and i’m so excited for more queer love stories to release this season.

The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy by Megan Bannen

A little academic rivalry at an elite prep school and football makes this a perfect Fall read!

It’s no secret I love Denise Williams! This is one of her very best. It’s about an event coordinator who has to work with a wedding officiant…who is a divorce attorney for her day job. It’s witty, sexy, and a damn good time. I love RJ and Lear so much.

“It’s Christmastime in Shady Palms, but things are far from jolly for Lila Macapagal. Sure, her new business, the Brew-ha Cafe, is looking to turn a profit in its first year. And yes, she’s taken the first step in a new romance with her good friend Jae Park. Tita Rosie is thrilled with the return of her prodigal son, but Lila knows that wherever Ronnie goes, trouble follows.

She’s soon proven right when Ronnie is suspected of murder, and secrets surrounding her shady cousin and those involved with the winery start piling up. Mistakes Were Made by Meryl Wilsner

I saw this described from Mackenzie as the “MILF book” and I’d say that’s an accurate description. A college senior accidentally hooks up with her best friend’s mom 👀 .

Wherever the Wind Takes Us by Kelly Harms

Pub Date: October 18

Amazon | Bookshop.org

I will admit that this book pulled me in by the cover but I think it’s the kind of family drama a lot of us crave during the Fall and Winter! Post divorce, a mother proposes a girls trip with her daughter to deliver their boat to it’s buyer, sailing from Maine to Miami. Plus add in a charming Irish sailing coach and it’s a winner for me.

Built to Last by Erin Hahn

Amazon | Bookshop.org

I guess I’m all about Second Chances this Fall because this is another second chance romance in this sweet, heartwarming story about a former child star and the one who got away.

The Last Chairlift by John Irving

Pub Date: October 18

Amazon | Bookshop.org
Not usually my vibe, but this is another cover that sucked me in!

“In Aspen, Colorado, in 1941, Rachel Brewster is a slalom skier at the National Downhill and Slalom Championships. Little Ray, as she is called, finishes nowhere near the podium, but she manages to get pregnant. Back home, in New England, Little Ray becomes a ski instructor.

Her son, Adam, grows up in a family that defies conventions and evades questions concerning the eventful past. Years later, looking for answers, Adam will go to Aspen. In the Hotel Jerome, where he was conceived, Adam will meet some ghosts; in The Last Chairlift, they aren’t the first or the last ghosts he sees.

John Irving has written some of the most acclaimed books of our time - among them, The World According to Garp and The Cider House Rules. A visionary voice on the subject of sexual tolerance, Irving is a bard of alternative families. In The Last Chairlift, listeners will once more be in his thrall.” —Amazon

Marlowe Banks, Redesigned by

“Marlowe Banks’s life has come apart at the seams. Her engagement ended abruptly. Her latest costume design was shredded by critics. Her student loans are overdue. Her parents have never been more disappointed. Desperate to hide from her failures, Marlowe flees New York City to embrace invisibility in Los Angeles as a menial Production Assistant on a popular TV show. While sorting socks and taking care of her boss’ spoiled Weimaraner, no one can confront her poor artistic choices or the end of her engagement, the end her ex refuses to accept.
When a costume mix-up requires Marlowe to step into in a scene, the camera catches a heated look between her and Angus Gordon, the show's arrogant bad boy, thrusting Marlowe into the spotlight. As the pair is forced together on set, Marlowe learns she's not the only one hiding. Walls come down for both of them, revealing a life Marlowe isn't sure she's ready for, and when her past comes calling, she has to decide if she's going to stay invisible or if it's time for a redesign.” —Amazon

A picturesque New England college campus setting? Sign me UP!

“When college sweethearts Frankie and Ezra broke up before graduation, they vowed to never speak to each other again. Ten years later, on the eve of the new millennium, they find themselves back on their snowy, picturesque New England campus together for the first time for the wedding of mutual friends. Frankie’s on the rise as a music manager for the hottest bands of the late ’90s, and Ezra’s ready to propose to his girlfriend after the wedding. Everything is going to plan—they just have to avoid the chasm of emotions brought up when they inevitably come face to face.

But when they wake up in bed next to each other the following morning with Ezra’s grandmother’s diamond on Frankie’s finger, they have zero memory of how they got there—or about any of the events that transpired the night before. Now Frankie and Ezra have to put aside old grievances in order to figure out what happened, what didn’t happen...and to ask themselves the most troubling question of all: what if they both got it wrong the first time around? “ —Amazon

Better Than Fiction by Alexa Martin

Amazon | Bookshop.org

There’s just something about books about bookstores, right? And oh my gosh, is Jasper, the hero SEXY! A male romance novelist falls for a self proclaimed “book hater.” It’s got a great setting in the mountains of Colorado and I just loved it. Highly recommend!

Before I Let Go by Kennedy Ryan

Kennedy Ryan is an author everyone should be reading!

“Yasmen and Josiah Wade promised each other forever. For better or worse. Through thick and thin. But when life hits them with one blow after another, their love isn’t strong enough to keep them together.

A year after the divorce, Yasmen has done a lot of growing and healing. She’s thriving and ready to move forward, even though she still sees Josiah nearly every day at Grits, the restaurant they co-own, and as they share custody of their two children. But Yasmen can’t help wondering if things could have been different between them. Like magnets, they're always drawn back to each other, and one almost-kiss soon leads to more. It's hot. It's illicit. It's all good until old wounds start resurfacing. This time, will they have what it takes to make forever last?” —Amazon

Shipwrecked by Olivia Dade

Pub Date: November 15

Amazon | Bookshop.org

If you’re a fan of Game of Thrones or any high fandom fantasy group, this is such a fun series. I loved Spoiler Alert, didn’t love All the Feels, and really really enjoyed Ship Wrecked. Two actors who meet and have a one night stand before they’re cast opposite each other for an epic series!

DECEMBER

So, This is Love by Tracy Andeen

Pub Date: December 20

Amazon | Bookshop.org

A Valentine’s Day romance! Shockingly, I haven’t read a lot of novels set around the holiday so I think it’s a fun twist!
