My 5 Star Reads

What makes a book a 5 star read for me? There isn’t a formula but rather a feeling. 5 Star Reads for me are generally pretty personal and don’t always come down to perfect writing or structure. Books and reading themselves are entirely subjective.

I got a DM recently asking if I had a list of my 5 Star Reads anywhere. And I didn’t! Sometimes I want to keep these stories close to my chest because they mean so much to me. But I also thought this could be a fun post to put together. But if you hated any of these, don’t tell me. I’m too fragile (I mean i’m JOKING but also not lol)

As a general rule, I no longer rate memoirs. Memoirs are so personal and typically don’t follow the same type of structure as a work of fiction. Any memoirs included on this list fall under my “Everyone needs to read this book” list.

I literally went through my Goodreads profile, which I join in 2015 or 2016, and went through all the books I rated 5 stars. I felt really reflective going through my reading the last 5 to 6 years in this way. My reading has changed so much but one thing remains to be true: I love something that makes me feel.

I’ll continue to update this as more 5 star reads make their way into my library. But this was fun to reflect on! What makes a 5 star read for you?
