What I Read in April 2022
Oh April, a month that was full of highs and lows, writing, and lots of exciting books. I haven’t been able to finish a book in one sitting cause my days have been so busy, but I did finish a couple books in 24 hours this month. It’s a always a good sign that I’m getting lost in a story and not in my phone. I also restarted my newsletter, The Bookmark, this month! It feels so good to have another outlet to connect with all of you beyond the blog. What was your favorite read of the month?
A Court of Frost and Starlight (reread) by Sarah J. Maas
This was actually the first time I reread this book since I first read the series in 2020. I wish I had made time for a reread of it before A Court of Silver Flames came out last year because so many things clicked for me. It’s a fun one to read on audio!
The Love Con by Seressia Glass
I loved so many aspects of this book but didn’t click with the overall execution. It felt like there was more “telling” than “showing” so I didn’t have the urge to pick it up. But, it’s really fun for lovers of Project Runway and Face Off!
In a New York Minute by Kate Spencer
This was such a fun, satisfying, nostalgic Rom Com. If you love NYC and meet cutes, you’ll enjoy this book!
Funny You Should Ask by Elissa Sussman
I heard a lot of good things about this book and while i enjoyed it, it’s pacing wasn’t my favorite. It was also a lot more emotional than I was anticipating. It’s good, but it just didn’t stick with me!
Book Lovers by Emily Henry
No one was more shocked than me that I loved this book. While I enjoyed Beach Read and People We Meet on Vacation, I didn’t LOVE them the way so many people did. But Book Lovers? It was such a smart, thoughtful, FUN Romance. The banter between the characters was top notch, with just enough of “real life” making an appearance. I loved it.
A Court of Silver Flames (reread) by Sarah J. Maas
And with that, I’ve finished my audio reread of the ACOTAR series and ACOSF hit me in the feels once again. I love this book.
American Royals III: Rivals by Katharine McGee
For all my American Royals fans, you’re going to want to emotionally prepare for the ending of this book. That’s all I will say for now.
My Killer Vacation by Tessa Bailey
This cover is changing!
Tessa Bailey does it again. I love her books so much and this book is such a sexy (and I mean SEXY) summer Romance with mystery elements. I read this book in 24 hours and couldn’t put it down.
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson
Who am I, reading a thriller/mystery and loving it? I get the hype. I couldn’t put this book down and it was a GREAT read.
House of Sky and Breath (Crescent City 2) by Sarah J. Maas
Since I’m posting this on the 28th, I haven’t finished this book YET but I will finish it before May 1 because I am so invested. While ACOTAR will always be my comfort series, I think this is my favorite universe SJM has created. It is SO GOOD!
Black Girls Must Die Exhausted by Jayne Allen
Wow wow wow I need to read all of Jayne Allen now. This book hit me right in the heart. It’s a must read.
And now, I cannot wait for my May reads! Looking forward to the second annual #ReadIntoSummer readathon coming memorial day weekend and The Summer Reading Guide 👀
