What I Read In February 2022

February is our shortest month and it was the busiest month I had in a long time. Like, pre-pandemic long time. It was a very strange mix of feeling like the New Normal and still fearing the Omicron surge. A lot of things have changed, thanks to new guidance from the CDC, and it’s been overwhelming to say the least. I also took on some new freelance projects, closed my first show since March 2020, and directed my first children’s theatre production!

To say I’m tired in an understatement. But I still managed to read 9 books with this month! I struggled to balance my reading life in February so I’m looking forward to a fresh start in March to get back into my routines. Here’s what I read this month!

Hook Line and Sinker by Tessa Bailey

Tessa Bailey slays. I loved this book. It was much more focused on the relationship between the main characters but it still was so wonderful to return to Westport, Washington. It’s a great escapist read and as is typical of Tessa Bailey, SPICY.

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas (reread)

You know me, when things get overwhelming, I turn to my comfort reads. I reread this one via audio which I haven’t done before and really enjoyed the experience! After reading Crescent City last month, it’s cool to revisit Maas’ writing and see how it’s evolved.

The Christmas Toy by Krista Wolf

This was a book on my holiday TBR and I didn’t get around to it so when I couldn’t sleep one night I started it. It was actually quite plot heavy! But it was incredibly spicy so if you’re looking for a reverse harem, find it here!

The Roughest Draft by Emily Wibberley and Austin Sigmund-Brokka f

I wanted to love this book but it was just too cerebral for a romance for me. I didn’t love the characters and I wasn’t rooting for them…honestly, found them a tad insufferable 😅 but that was just my opinion. I know other readers have enjoyed it!

A Brush with Love by Mazey Eddings

Another book I wanted to love but found the hero to be a tad annoying. I didn’t like that he was overly persistent in his pursuit of our heroine. It felt a little creepy?? I DON’T KNOW it just didn’t work for me.

The Suite Spot by Trish Doller

But I did ADORE this book! I think I liked it better than Float Plan. It was so sweet and perfect. It’s low steam for my taste but the plot and character development was so good I didn’t mind.

Intercepted by Alexa Martin

I’m seriously so mad I left this on my shelf for so long because it’s such a good series. I loved Marlee and Gavin, omg. Obsessed. I started it cause I was missing football and now wish I had the self control to spread out the series cause when I finish all four, football season will still be far away.

Claimed by Cupid by Dana Islay

Need a quick spicy novella? That’s why I read this one. I read it in an hour, there is zero plot, but sometimes that’s what our brains need, right?

*I did learn about a potential plagiarism issue involving this author through TikTok while scrolling the morning of February 28, 2022. I’m disappointed to learn this about Dana Islay.

Fumbled by Alexa Martin

The second book in the playbook series is just chef’s kiss. So good. TK and Poppy have my heart. It’s a second chance romance which you know is a major weakness of mine!

And that’s what I read! It was a lighter month quantity wise but I’m still happy with what I read. March is a HUGE publication month so be on the lookout for all the new releases I’m excited about!
