Top 16 Books of 2022
Finlay Donovan Knocks Em Dead by Elle Cosimano—What a fun series. I love it so much because I keeps me guessing, it has a little romance, and it feels really unique.
Running Wild by KA Tucker—We all know how much I fell in love with Alaska and Calla and Jonah’s story with The Simple Wild. I didn’t know if it would be possible to love Marie’s story, but I did. I simply cannot get enough of this world that KA Tucker has created.
The Suite Spot by Trish Doller—This may surprise some, because it’s a closed door romance, but when something is well written I don’t always need spice! I LOVED this book. It was my first taste of Summer during the dark Buffalo winter and I adored the small town feel and charm that was grounded on reality.
Leave on Love by Fallon Ballard—THIS BOOK 😭 It was perfect for me. I loved the found family, the spunky dialogue, the pacing. So utterly wonderful.
How to Fake It In Hollywood by Ava Wilder—I was eagerly anticipating this book and it did not disappoint. It’s a celebrity romance and it’s HOT but also addressing loving someone struggling with addiction. It’s sexy and vibrant but also, grounded in reality. Are we sensing a theme in what I like?
Every Summer After by Carley Fortune—You’re shocked, right? It goes without saying that this book made an imprint on my heart. I loved it so much. I could feel the sun soaking into my skin while I read it and I’ll forever have fantastic memories of finishing it in my childhood bedroom at midnight, with tears streaming down my cheeks. I loved that it’s complicated and atmospheric and still joyful.
Nora Goes Off Script by Annabel Monaghan—Another surprise on the list! This time a real surprise i think. It’s about a screenwriter who writes Hallmark style movies but when she writes a script inspired by her own divorce, it becomes an Oscar contender. The star of the film comes to her hometown and they fall for each other as he gets to experience family for the first time.
A Hundred Other Girls by Iman Hariri-Kia—Iman’s book is very modern but it evoked so much nostalgia for me as it reminded me of the books that made me a reader as a tween and teen. It’s kind of like The Devil Wears Prada meets the TIkTok generation. Again, it’s one that’s complicated and you’re not sure who to root for but that is what I like to dig into!
You Made a Fool of Death with Your Beauty by Akwake Emezi—OH MY GOSH THIS BOOK. It is M E S S Y, y’all. Like. mess on mess, but at the same time so achingly romantic and sexy. It’s about finding love after tragic loss, electric attraction, and finding yourself outside of a relationship.
The Lesbiana’s Guide to Catholic School by Sonora Reyes—This book was a surprise to me. I picked it up because I grew up going to Catholic school my whole life, but I was swept away by this YA book. I highly recommend it!
The Godparent Trap by Rachel Van Dyken—This year, the books I couldn’t put down are the ones that stood out the most. This was one of them! It made me cry and also made me smile. It’s simple, similar to the movie Life As We Know It, but really pulls at the heart strings.
Scandalized by Ivy Owens—Have I screamed about this book enough? I LOVED this one and it’s no surprise, as it’s written by one half of Christina Lauren. It’s a celebrity/best friend’s brother romance and it is fast paced, HOT, and also really important as it addresses sexual assault and manipulation in the entertainment industry.
Better Than Fiction by Alexa Martin—If you are a mountain girl in anyway, or even if you’re not, this book will make you one. The depictions of Colorado are chef’s kiss and the romance it top notch. It’s about a romance novelist and a self proclaimed “book hater” who inherits her grandmother’s store, as well as the Dirty Birds book club made up of aging women. It’s SO good!!!
Icebreaker by Hannah Grace—This is a book that reminds why I love to read and why I love romance. It took off on TikTok and I simply loved it. It’s a hockey romance between a player and a figure skater but I loved how diverse the cast of characters was! This version of hockey may be fictional but it made me so happy to read and I could not put it down.
Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez—This book was so healing for me. It’s one of those books that you can’t believe you love because it deals with such a heavy topic (domestic abuse, physical and emotional) but it’s handled with such grace and honesty. It’s also spectacular on audio!
Astrid Parker Doesn’t Fail by Ashley Herring Blake—This BOOK. I loved Delilah but wow did I really love Astrid. I loved the HGTV elements and how Astrid went on a journey to find herself and her happiness. Plus, the setting is iconic.
And there we have it! Let me know your favorites and any recommendations for 2022 that you’d think based on this list. What were your Top Reads of 2022?
