What I Read in September 2021

September was another great reading month, thanks to some much needed time off at the lake, the #ReadIntoAutumn Readathon, and some fantastic books I just couldn’t put down! Here’s what I read this month with some mini reviews.

Make sure to let me know what your favorite book or moment from September was!

The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling

What a CUTE, sexy book to get into the season with. It’s perfectly witchy and romantic. It’s like Gilmore Girls meets Halloweentown in a book. It was so refreshing and honestly, I’m pretty sure one of the first book I’ve read in a while where I didn’t need to list any trigger warnings. Just warm and cozy!

Pumpkin by Julie Murphy

OMG this book! I was smiling from ear to ear reading it. As a huge fan of Ru Paul’s Drag Race, this book made me laugh and cry. I loved it!

A Lot Like Adios by Alexis Daria

Adios.jpg

It’s no secret I LOVE Alexis Daria and this follow up to You Had Me at Hola did not disappoint. It’s a Friends to Lovers/Second Chance Romance with a little enemies to lovers mixed in. I was a fan.

7th Circle by Tate James

THe first book in the Hades series! This is a companion series to the Madison Kate series and I wish I had been able to read more of the series this month. It’s truly such a strong start to the new story! Reminder this is a dark romance with a reverse harem so if that’s not your thing, this is not the series for you!

The Heart Principle by Helen Hoang

Wow, this book broke me. I liked The Kiss Quotient and The Bride Test, but truly, THe Heart Principle knocked it out of the park. It was truly so good but it definitely deals with heavy topics like stroke and loss of a parent.

Eight Perfect Hours by Lia Louis

I was ready to love this book but I’ve come to the conclusion that books with “fated” love stories where they keep missing each other are just not for me. I didn’t vibe with this book sadly.

The Dare by Elle Kennedy

The final book in the Briar U series and I really enjoyed it! I liked Taylor and Conor’s story a lot. I’ll miss this world!

The Royals Next Door by Karina Halle

What a delightful romance! We all know I’m a sucker for a royal storyline and this one between the royal family’s body guard and a school teacher was so fun. I breezed through it and loved the subtle nods to Meghan and Harry!

On Location by Sarah Smith

Another one I wanted to love but just liked!

The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood

Okay, the hype is well earned. I LOVED it and read it in less than 24 hours. If you can snag a copy, it’s a must read for something fun and escapist.

Well Matched by Jen Deluca

I love the Willow Creek series and was so happy to return in this book. It’s not out until mid October but if you were disappointed by Well Played, I think you’ll be very pleasantly surprised by this one.

Rise to the Sun by Leah Johnson

I loved You Should See Me In a Crown by Leah Johnson so I knew I wanted to pick up her latest book! I liked this one but not as much. It does deal with difficult topics like gun violence.

Seven Days in June by Tia Williams

Another one that is SO worth the hype and I’m glad I finally read it!

All the Feels by Olivia Dade

I wanted to love this book but we just didn’t vibe at all. It’s out the end of October!

The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

I waited 10 years to read this and WOW was it beautiful. I loved it! I studied Greek and Latin all through high school and college so it felt so familiar to me!
