10 Ultimate Comfort Reads

Reading is something special and unique to all of us so while making this list I was like, “Are these the ultimate comfort reads or are they MY ultimate comfort reads?”

I think it’s a mix of both!

I love to reread books. I get something new from them each time I read them and they usually transport me somewhere I desperately need to go at that time. But, I also can get that feeling from the first time I read a book as well. So even if you’re not a re-reader, hopefully there is a book on this list that works for you!

Concrete Rose by Angie Thomas—I love Angie Thomas’ writing so much. Maverick is such a steady character. Reading this book is so calming for me, though it can be difficult during some moments.

The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker—What else do I need to say about it at this point?

Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine—The book that made me a reader! I love it so much and every time I return to it, I’m shocked by how mature the writing is.

Meet Me at Midnight by Jessica Pennington—Another one I talk about all the time but it seriously stuck with me! Summer at the lake is an ultimate comfort.

The Summer of Broken Rules by K.L. Walther—A new favorite to add to this list! Summer in Martha’s Vineyard, a big family, just so good.

Felix Ever After by Kacen Kallender—This is one I listen to certain parts on audio when I need some guidance. I love it so deeply.

With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo—Mac N Cheese is a huge comfort food for me and Emoni makes the best. This book is paced so well and the characters are electric.

Beartown by Fredrik Backman—Backman’s writing is hypnotic in Beartown. He pulls you in and keeps you engaged, something I tend to need when I’m seeking comfort.

The City Baker’s Guide to Country Living by Louise Miller—A cozy hug of a book. New England in the fall and winter, excellent food descriptions, and a charming love story.

MyOxfordYear.jpg

My Oxford Year by Julia Whelan—Okay wow this is a book I read when I just need to cry. A big trigger for cancer, but this book makes you FEEL. When you just need to let it out, this is the book.
