10 Books I Can't Stop Recommending
When it comes to my little corner of the internet, a lot of what I do is subjective. Not every book is going to be for every reader but when someone asks for a recommendation, these are the ones that jump to my mind first.
The Royal We by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan—Basically royal fan fiction for William and Kate, but it’s just good FUN. It’s dramatic and a wild ride but has such a great cast of characters. It’s not a perfect book but it’s so special to me that I hope others fall in love with it too.
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid—This book took me so long to read and then I devoured it in a single sitting. It’s another book that isn’t perfect (can there ever really be such a thing?) but it’s sweeping and romantic, full of imperfect characters being messy and making mistakes.
The Simple Wild by KA Tucker—Who would have known a romance novel set in Alaska would become a book I turn to time and time again? I love heading to Alaska and falling in love with the people and places time and again.
A Court of Thorns and Roses Series by Sarah J. Maas—This series changed so much of my reading and what I’m drawn to, while also reaffirming what I love about the books I reach for. It might not seem like your cup of tea, but I truly think more people would enjoy it if they gave it a chance!
Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley—This book swept me away and had me so enthralled and on edge. The audio production is chef’s kiss so I highly recommend listening along with a physical or e-copy!
When No One is Watching by Alyssa Cole—I am not a thriller reader but I love Alyssa Cole. I wouldn’t even say that this book is a thriller, more suspense, but it deals with gentrification and I think is a necessary read.
Good Talk by Mira Jacob—A graphic memoir! I haven’t stopped thinking about this book since I read it and tell people about it all the time. It’s a fantastic window into the stresses parenthood and family in the era of misinformation.
How to Fail at Flirting by Denise Williams—I adore this romance and how the author discusses intimate partner violence and how we move forward. We are not defined by our trauma and I love how Naya, the main character, finds the way to move forward with her trauma.
From the Corner of the Oval by Beck Dorey-Stein—I remember devouring this memoir like it was a new Netflix show. It’s a coming of age story wrapped up in the glamour of working in the Obama Whitehouse, peppered with the familiar crises associated with your late 20’s.
Know My Name by Chanel Miller—One of the best books I’ve read. Proceed with caution as it does graphically deal with sexual assault, navigating life as a survivor of sexual assault, and violence. But it’s so well written and so validating for mental health and grief.
If you’ve read any of these, I’d love to chat about them!
