Halfway Through 2021

I truly can’t believe we are halfway through the year! We say it year after year, but January-March feels so.slow. and dreary and then the rest of the year just flies by! Ashley and I were recording the podcast over the weekend and we were reflecting on the first six months of the year. I have read 61 books so far this year but when I was going to choose my top ten, for some reason I was like…I’ve read nothing! There are still so many more books I can’t wait to read!

I hope I never lose that feeling of joy and excitement surrounding reading. Life is a little more challenging with Beasley, but as she grows more and more independent, I feel my reading life coming back!

Here are my Top 10 Reads of the 2021 (So Far)

ConcreteRose.jpg

Concrete Rose by Angie Thomas—This was my first purchase of the year (well, preorder that arrived) and oh my goodness did I gobble it up. I loved it so much. Angie Thomas’ writing is some of my favorite because she has such character driven novels but the plot keeps you reading. Full review here!

Legendborn.jpeg

Legendborn by Tracey Deonn—I am very picky when it comes to Fantasy because it’s not my favorite genre. I need characters who pull me in and WOW did Legendborn pull me in. Full review here!

Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley—Have a raved about this book enough? I LOVED IT. I devoured the 500 pages in a day and have continued thinking about it nearly every day since. It’s YA but I feel like it should be New Adult for some of the themes BUT I think it’s an important one for true teens to read. Full review here!

TheGuncle.jpeg

The Guncle by Steven Rowley—Another book you haven’t heard me rave about enough, have you? If you haven’t yet, this is a must read for the summer! Full review here and check out my interview with Steven Rowley on Read It Or List It!

Madison Kate Series by Tate James—One of the books that totally changed my reading life this year! I’ve also raved about this series a ton but if you’ve missed it, it’s a reverse harem dark romance. My review of the series is here!

TheDeal.jpg

Off Campus Series by Elle Kennedy—Another one I have talked about a ton but can’t stop thinking about! My favorite in the series is The Score, the third book, but I adore the whole series and have started it’s companion series, Briar U as well. I’ll link my individual reviews

The Deal // The Mistake // The Score // The Goal

GoodTalk.jpeg

Good Talk by Mira Jacob—If you’ve never tried reading a graphic novel, this is a great one to start with. It was another book I read in January and could not put down. It’s a graphic memoir with some of the most beautiful words and lessons i’ve ever read. Full review here!

ACourtofSilverFlames.jpeg

A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas—If you remember, this book was so personal for me to read and will be very special for a long time. I’ve been craving a reread of it but I might save it for the Fall. Review here!

LiveYourLife.jpeg

Live Your Life by Amanda Kloots—I don’t know if I’ll ever have the words to properly review this book, which needs no review because it is so personal and beautiful. It’s a must read to full understand the lives of people who were so personally effected by the Covid-19 Pandemic.

I’d love to know your favorites of the year so far!
