What I Read In May 2021
May ended up being such a great reading month! It may have started off slow, as we enjoyed a relaxing mini moon in Lake Placid, but the rest of the month flew by with lots of awesome reads!
I’m looking forward to true summer arriving next month. We have lots of fun things planned plus a couple little vacations, but I want to make sure that still hold onto the positive aspects of the last year. I loved slowing down and having long weekend days to read and spend time with Nick. Even though we’re vaccinated and things seem better, I still want to keep that slower pace of life.
Here’s what I read in May!
One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston—I loved this book with my whole heart! It publishes June 1, 2021 and you’re not going to want to miss it! My review is here.
Only When It’s Us by Chloe Liese—I had this Romance on my TBR for over a year and finally read it this month. I can’t wait to continue the series! My review is here.
It Had to Be You by Georgia Clark—This a Love, Actually style RomComDram that I had a great time reading. It’s not steamy and follows 5 different couples from all walks of life. It’s a great beach read!
The Guncle by Steven Rowley—This book is in the running to be my favorite book of the year! I simply adored it. My review is here!
Happily Ever Afters by Elise Bryant—This book totally surprised me with how much I loved it! I love YA but since I’m not the targeted audience, sometimes my enjoyment level can be hit or miss. But this was a hit! It’s about a teenage writer who attends an arts high school and is looking for inspiration via her own love life.
Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid—This was a hugely anticipated read for me! I love Taylor Jenkins Reid’s books but this didn’t earn my top spot of her books in my opinion. My review is here!
The Mistake (Off Campus #2) by Elle Kennedy—It’s safe to say I am invested in this series. I loved this one as well!
The Score (Off Campus 3) by Elle Kennedy—I am totally and completely obsessed with this series. I can’t wait to finish it!
FIrekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley—THIS BOOK!!!!!! Oh my gosh, I don’t know what I was expecting but it floored me!
TW: suicide, murder, violence, kidnapping, drug abuse, rape, sexual assault
That Summer by Jennifer Weiner—Jennifer Weiner’s last two books have kinda baffled me. I didn’t not enjoy this book, but the tone takes on a drastic shift halfway through.
TW: sexual assault, rape, suicide
The #ReadIntoSummer readathon was SO much fun and I’m so happy so many people joined in. It was a great way to finish out the month!
