What I Read In February 2021

Another month flies by and here we are in March! I shared on Instagram yesterday that if I had to describe my February in one word, it would be “mountainous.” From the books I read to the feelings I processed, February was A LOT.

It snowed every day, the sky was incredibly grey, and I was deep in the throws of pandemic burn out, utter exhaustion, and feeling like I just needed to lean on what brought me ultimate comfort. Enter romcoms, rereads, and a new book that has left me even more obsessed with a world.

I read 11 books this month but a number of them were 600+ pages, so I’m really happy with that number! I need escapism more than ever these days and I know that’s okay. Most of my reviews for these books are available available on my review page but if not, they will be coming soon!

A Promised Land by Barack Obama—A must read on audio! I always appreciate learning more about the Obama era, especially his first term, since I couldn’t vote in 2008. And in 2012, I was still piecing together what a lot of his goals and policies meant. This book is policy driven but still full of fun tidbits from his time in the White House and how amazing of a partner Michelle is. Highly recommend!

You’ll Never Believe What Happened to Lacey by Amber Ruffin and Lacey Lamar—This is a must read on audio as well! My review is here but I just loved it. It strikes the right balance between humor and heartache that keeps the reader engaged and ready to keep listening.

ACOMAF.jpeg

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas—A reread of one of my favorite series and gotta say, this one was even better the second time. My review for the first four books in the series is here.

It'sNotSummer.jpeg

It’s Not Summer Without You by Jenny Han—The NOSTALGIA. I loved reading these books on audio! Review here.

WellAlwaysHaveSummer.jpeg

We’ll Always Have Summer by Jenny Han—Again, the narrator knocked it out of the park in this series. I loved this and finished it in a day. I was finding any excuse to listen when I had a free moment.

ACOWAR.jpeg

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas—The first time I read this one, I didn’t love it as much as ACOMAF but on the reread, I felt so much more connected to the story. I took it slower and loved all the hints at what was to come.

TheMidnightLibrary.jpeg

The Midnight Library by Matt Haig—Not only did I love this book but I loves speaking with Matt Haig on Read It Or List It! My review is here, including content warnings, as this does deal with suicide and suicidal thoughts.

Shipped.jpeg

Shipped by Angie Hockman—A cute romcom for anyone who doesn’t like steam in their romances! Review here.

Hate.jpeg

Hate by Tate James (Madison Kate #1)—A total pivot, but I after getting my Kindle, I’ve been enjoying exploring Kindle Unlimited and seeing all the different kinds of romances available. This is a dark romance featuring a reverse harem, so it definitely won’t be for everyone.

FirstComesLike.jpeg

First Comes Like by Alisha Rai—I loved this one on audio! I always get excited when there are characters who are actors because it makes me feel like I’m reading about my friends. Another good romcom with a little spice.

ACourtofSIlverFlames.jpeg

A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas—I have my full review coming soon for this book! This was an incredibly personal story for me to read and I’m so grateful that it exists. I’ve learned a lot since I started sharing my life and books on the internet and one thing is to hold onto stories that are special. I have a lot to say about this book and I need some time to process it, but I’m really grateful for my individual reading experience. If you are looking for content warnings (which there are a number), I have them listed on Goodreads.
