Novellas to Read to Reach Your Reading Goal
I’ve been tracking how many books I read a year since 2015 (3 years before I started Read & Wright!) because I was so busy in my post grad life, I just wanted to challenge myself to make the time to read. Plus, I had just moved to the city so I was on public transit so much more and had more time on my commute and between auditions to read during the day.
Over the last couple years, I’ve realized I don’t like setting a large numerical reading goal. I already read a lot for work, but sometimes I have this nagging feeling hanging over my head that I’m not doing enough reading and I wonder if I’d enjoy certain books more if I wasn’t “rushing” to add it to the list.
I average around 150 books a year. Which is A LOT of books. But I don’t love them all! I always set my goal for 52 books, because that breaks down to one book a week. Since reading is my self care, I know it’s important that I make time for it each week. But I don’t need to put pressure on myself to read every book ever written.
A self imposed reading challenge is always a good thing but it doesn't need to define you or your validity as a reader! However, if you want to read some short books to hit that reading goal, here are some recommendations!
What do you think about reading goals?
