10 Backlist Titles I want to Read in 2022

There are always so many new and exciting books that come out each year it's nearly impossible to get to them all. So I'm going to prioritize 10 Backlist Titles I've been meaning to read for way too long! Last year I said I was going to read 20 backlist titles and I read about 4 lol so I want to be really picky with what I choose. I want to actually be excited to pick up these books and not feel like I’m just crossing them off the list.

In the Summer, Fall, and Winter I get really distracted by seasonal reads so I want to start the first quarter of the year with these backlist titles before I feel the pressure to start prepping for the Summer, Fall, and Holiday Reading Guides. If you’ve read any of these…where should I start?!

The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

I meant to read this book in December and just totally ran out of time. But it will be one of my first reads of the year in 2022! I think it will a fun, fast paced book that will start the year of right for me.

Crescent City: House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas

I know it’s shocking that I haven’t read this book yet since I talk about the ACOTAR series one a week. But I didn’t love Throne of Glass so I didn’t rush to read the rest of SJM’s books. But with the second book in this series coming, I figured it was time to finally read it. Plus, fantasy is always a lot of fun in the winter!

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab

I just need to finally know what all the hype is about, okay?

Beth & Amy by Virginia Kantra

I am nervous about this one because I didn’t love Meg & Jo, the first book, but I’ve heard this one is better. I love Little Women and I love retellings so hopefully it holds up!

Gods & Monsters by Shelby Mahurin

I have to finish the Serpent & Dove trilogy finally! I actually liked Blood & Honey more than the first book, which I know is an unpopular opinion, but I’m excited to finally finish it off.

Don’t Breathe a Word by Jordyn Taylor

I adore Jordan and bought this from my favorite indie bookstore in Lake Placid on our trip in September!

The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah

I wanted to read this book so badly last because I love Kristin Hannah’s writing but it felt too bleak last winter. Hopefully I’ll get to it this year!

If I’m Being Honest by Emily Wibberley

This YA book is a Taming of the Shrew retelling and we already know I love Shakespeare and retellings! It’s been on my list for about two years.

Betty by Tiffany McDaniel

I’ve heard this book is heavy but AMAZING so…another heavy read I want to make space for in 2022!

The Book of Longings by Sue Monk Kidd

I love Sue Monk Kidd’s writing this book sounds fascinating. It’s a historical fiction piece about Jesus’ wife.
