My 12 Most Anticipated 2022 Releases (So Far)
New year, new books. I do want to make sure I’m continuing to read for joy in 2022 and making a dent in my backlist of unread books but there are a few books that I am VERY excited to come out this year! Here are the 12 I am most excited for right now that are due out the first half of the year. A few of them I already have copies of and I can’t wait to read them to kick off my year right!
I predict I’m going to continue reading lots of Romance but I am going to make room for some literary fiction and more nonfiction as well. I LOVE memoirs and didn’t read a ton of them in 2021. I plan to change that!
Running Wild by K.A. Tucker
January 25, 2022
Clearly we need to start this list off strong with a new book in the Wild universe! This book follows Marie, who you may know from The Simple Wild as Jonah’s best friend who pined after his unrequited love. I have to say, Marie has not been my favorite character but I love this story and setting so much, I will be reading it. I trust KA Tucker to take us on this journey as Marie struggles to find her own happily ever after. Plus, we’ll get to see Calla and Jonah!
Good Girl Complex by Elle Kennedy
February 1, 2022
I love the New Adult subgenre and I’m excited to read this book in a series from Elle Kennedy! It’s about Mac Cabot, who has always been the perfect girl. A perfect student, daughter, long time girlfriend and more. But when she moves to her college town of Avalon Bay, she meets a local bad boy who tempts her in new ways to fully discover who she is. I’m a sucker for this trope!
Hook, Line, and Sinker by Tessa Bailey
March 1, 2022
Tessa Bailey needs no introduction here but alas, I cannot wait to read Hannah and Fox’s story. I just love her writing and this friends to lovers Romance set in the idyllic Pacific Northwest is sure to cure my post Christmas blues. Tessa told me herself Fox would cure my sadness 😂
Truth and Other Lies by Maggie Smith
March 8, 2022
I know I know I know, I’m not the girl to ask for thriller/mystery recommendations. But I thought this synopsis sounded so good! It’s a story of 3 women: a young reporter, a famous journalist, and a fledgling politician. When Megan, our young reporter, loses her job and boyfriend in the same day she moves back home with her mother Helen, who is running for Congress. They class on issues from abortion to the #MeToo movement and then Megan is offered a job with the famous journalist, Jocelyn Jones. But an anonymous tweet threatens to bring down what the women have built and they must work together to take down the troll before all three of them lose everything.
A Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John Mandel
April 4, 2022
One of my favorite books of all time, Station Eleven, is written by Emily St. John Mandel. It’s not a mini series! But she’s become an autobuy author for me because I just love her writing. I can’t do this synopsis justice so here it is: “The award-winning, best-selling author of Station Eleven and The Glass Hotel returns with a novel of art, time, love, and plague that takes the reader from Vancouver Island in 1912 to a dark colony on the moon three hundred years later, unfurling a story of humanity across centuries and space.” (Goodreads).
Finding Me by Viola Davis
April 26, 2022
Viola Davis is one of my FAVORITE actors of all time. Of. All. Time. I adore her work and I truly can’t wait to read more about her life.
Book Lovers by Emily Henry
May 3, 2022
No surprise here since Emily Henry is one of the most celebrated contemporary romance authors right now. But it is surprising since I didn’t love her first adult book, Beach Read, but I did enjoy People We Meet On Vacation. I’ve heard Book Lovers is her best yet so I’m interested to see where I’ll fall! It’s about literary agent Nora and editor Charlie who continue to bump into each other in a small down as they escape from the city.
You Made a Fool Of Death with Your Beauty by Akwaeke Emezi
May 25, 2022
Emezi is one of the most prolific writers of our age and this cover has me DROOLING. It’s about a woman who is struggling with the grief of losing the love of her life while still trying to seek joy from life. It’s love love, loss, and new beginnings.
Tokyo Dreaming by Emiko Jean
May 31, 2022
I LOVED Tokyo Ever After and cannot wait to continue reading this series! It’s about Izumi, who discovers the father she never met is actually the Crown Prince of Japan. The second story takes us on more adventures through Japan as Izumi deals with the pressures of public life and her future.
Rivals by Katharine McGee
May 31, 2022
I just about screamed when this was finally announced! I LOVED Majesty, the second book in the American Royals series, and was hoping there would be a 3rd book following this alternate universe where the United States has a royal family instead of a democracy. The drama continues in this third installment!
How to Fake It In Hollywood by Ava Wilder
June 14, 2022
I found this book randomly while scrolling through IG and isn’t that the best part of social media? This is a debut and I’m so excited to support the author! Plus, I’m a sucker for a story about actors. It’s about an actress who is trying to revive her career after ending a long stint on a teen drama. It’s a fake dating, juicy rom com and I can’t wait to read it!
Bloodmarked by Tracey Deonn
July 26, 2022
Have I yelled about how much I loved Legendborn enough yet?? I CANNOT WAIT for the sequel! It’s a reimagined YA version of King Arthur and it’s so so so good. Read it!!!
So tell me…what are you excited for?! Do you have any reading goals or challenges you’re planning on making this year? I have more on mine in this post and there are links below to other book lists if none of these tickle your fancy.
