What I Read in October 2021

It seems that I’ve been averaging about 15 books a month since September, which is 3 more than normal for me! I think this is because I’ve really let myself lean into reading the books that make me happy. The Romance genre is one I’ve always loved and while I do still read across other genres, when I need to escape and relax, Romance is where I turn.

October was a fantastic month. Between what I read, work, and writing, I feel so fulfilled and prepared going into the last two months of the year, which are always wildly busy for me. I feel so centered and happy and I really attribute that to journaling daily and figuring out a work schedule that works for me.

Here’s what I read in October 2021!

Payback’s a Witch by Lana Harper

This was a great atmospheric RomCom with a little fantasy/supernatural elements for October. I loved getting to have the author on Read It Or List It as well!

I’m Dreaming of a Wyatt Christmas by Tiffany Schmidt

More on this one in my Holiday Reading Guide (coming SOON!) but this was a cute YA holiday booK! I loved the setting!

A Holly Jolly Diwali by Sonya Lalli

A low steam holiday romance! I loved learning more about Diwali and found this one an easy, cozy read.

The Legacy by Elle Kennedy

The Off Campus series is a huge comfort series for me that I discovered this year. I liked being back in the Briar U world but didn’t love the structure of this book.

Always Only You by Chloe Liese

A new hockey romance to love with great chronic illness representation and a cinnamon roll hero. I really liked it and look forward to finishing the Bergman series!

A Christmas at Gingerbread Falls by Katie Mettner

Loved the concept, wasn’t a fan of the execution. Hallmark isn’t my vibe but I think this will work for other readers.

Nick and Noel’s Christmas Playlist by Codi Hall

Fun and surprisingly steamy. I liked it, didn’t love it!

Window Shopping by Tessa Bailey

Pure fun! I am loving Tessa Bailey right now and I was so happy to read this one. It’s a great one to cozy up with and just enjoy the ride. And since it’s Tessa, you know you’re gonna get some SPICE in the romance.

Hang the Moon by Alexandria Bellefour

I love this series and I don’t know why this took me so long to read! Another great romance.

All I Want for Christmas is the Girl Next Door by Chelsea Bobulski

Probably the most shocking read of the month. I read this in like 4 hours, I couldn’t stop! Such a fun and festive YA book. There is a religious element but it really didn’t bother me!

Duke Actually by Jenny Holiday

Cute and way more tame on the steam levels than A Princess for Christmas!

The Fastest Way to Fall by Denise Williams

This book WRECKED me in the best way. Comes out November 2!!!

Fix Her Up by Tessa Bailey

This book was my catnip. I could.not.STOP! Extremely open door so if that’s not your thing, I’d stay away from Tessa Bailey!

The Mistletoe Pact by Jo Lovett

I wanted to love this book. I thought the concept was so fun! But it just became another holiday book about fated love and missed connections and miscommunications.

Love Her or Lose Her by Tessa Bailey

I have mixed feelings on this one. Definitely didn’t love it as much as Fix Her Up but I did love what it explored in terms of love languages and physical connection.

And that’s all folks! 15 books, lots of holiday reads and romance. What else is new. What was your favorite book you read in October?
