Review: The Happy Ever After Playlist by Abby Jimenez

Genre: Adult Romance

The Happy Ever After Playlist is the first Romance novel I read via audio and I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it! I extended my daily walks just to keep listening. I haven’t read The Friend Zone (by the same author) but I know it has a divided audience. But I was pleasantly surprised by this book!

Synopsis: Sloane lost her fiance two years ago and is still trying to figure out “what’s next” amidst her grieving. Enter a precocious pup and a rockstar, who quickly charms Sloane from afar (like…Australia far). Jason can’t help but fall for Sloane, but can they make a relationship work amidst a budding music career?

What I Liked:

  • The narration—The voice actors are GOOD. Like really good. One of the best audiobook performances I’ve heard.

  • The level of storytelling—while this is light and fun at parts, it does have a deeper purpose that I think could help a lot of people.

  • Jason—swoon worthy. Plus Tucker the dog? My heart.

What I Didn’t Like:

  • Instant Love isn’t one of my favorite tropes and there’s an element of that here. I just find it hard to buy into.

  • Easily resolved situations made difficult by lack of communication—again, a me thing

TW/CW: unresolved grief, loss of a spouse
