What to Read After ACOTAR
This post is from 2020. You can find an updated version of this list HERE.
Who would have thought I’d be falling in love with fantasy again in my life. I definitely was into YA Fantasy when I was in middle and high school. But I feel like since I left college, though I longed to find a series to fall in love with again, I kept picking up contemporary romance and women’s lit.
There’s nothing wrong with that, but sometimes we just crave something a little different. I asked on Instagram for some recommendations from more experienced fantasy readers and here’s what they came back with!
A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy)
Serpent and Dove (Series)
The Cruel Prince (The Folk of Air Series)
The Red Queen (Series)
A Curse So Dark and Lonely (Cursebreaker Series)
Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass Series)
House of Earth and Blood (Crescent City Series)
Shadow and Bone (The Shadow and Bone Series)
Six of Crows (Book 1 of 2)
The Medoran Chronicles by Lynette Noni
Crave by Tracy Wolff (Crave Series)
Dance of Thieves (Series)
Stalking Jack the Ripper (Series)—I will say, I read the first one and I didn’t love it. But it has a VERY loyal fan base!
I’m definitely planning on reading Serpent & Dove, Thrones of Glass, and eventually Crescent City too. I think I may try to read A Discovery of Witches too! At this point, all we have is time, right?!
