Nothing but Blue Skies

I am so proud to be an American today. Waking up this morning with a skip in my step, breathing for the first time in months, and recognizing that the fight is far from over. But man, November 7, 2020 will burn brighter in my memory than the pain and anguish of November 9, 2020.

I had content prepared for this week, but it felt weird and strange to share it. While this is my job, I know for so many the distractions weren’t worth it. And they weren’t for me either. Here’s something I wrote, that I was going to post, but we got the news and man, it was some real good news.

“Here is the really difficult thing this week…I have to continue to create content because it’s my job, but I never want to be tone deaf to what is going on around me. I’ve struggled to read this week, I’ve stared at my phone more than a page, and I’m really disappointed in my country. How could half the country still support Donald Trump is extremely disheartening and disappointing, but I shouldn’t be surprised. Please know that here: Black Lives Matter, LGBTQ+ Lives Matter, racism, sexism, and toxic positivity are not welcome.

I shouldn’t have to say it, but just in case you needed a reminder: reading is a political act. Human rights and decency are not opinions. “

I still believe those things. I still want you to know where I stand, because that is incredibly important to me. Who you follow, who you support, it all is the same as voting. Don’t let those around be silent.
