Thanksgiving for Two
I have a lot of mixed feelings about celebrating Thanksgiving alone this year. On the plus side, there is less stress because we don’t have to travel. Anyone remember last year when I got my flight home got canceled and I got stranded in a snowstorm?
But on the down side, I will miss the holiday traditions in my childhood home as well as seeing my New England town light up for the Christmas season.
Nick and I are both so exhausted that we’re looking forward to a quiet, cozy holiday and making some new traditions for our little family. I wanted to share out plan for a Thanksgiving for Two!
If you are making your first turkey before, I cannot recommend my friend Claire’s recipe enough! That’s the one I’ll be making and she takes you through it all step by step. Claire is a gift and I’m so lucky to call her a friend!
We plan on taking it easy and enjoying cooking! We’ll probably eat around 4 or 5. Our morning plans include Poinsettias (cranberry mimosas), cinnamon rolls, and watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. I know the parade is going to be different this year, but I still hope it feels as magical as it always does.
We’re going to work on a puzzle, because Nick LOVES them and I got the cutest one from the New York Public Library. Then we’ll watch The Christmas Chronicles 2 and decorate the tree! I’m very excited.
So last year, I did Winter Street Week the week of Thanksgiving. It’s a series by Elin Hilderbrand that is my FAVORITE holiday reread every year. I’ll share the posts here!

Reading Plans:
Since I love Elin Hilderbrand so much, I always save her Winter novel for the week of Thanksgiving. Last year I read it on a plane and this year, I’ll read Troubles in Paradise from the comfort of my own little home.
If you’re starting any new traditions this year due to the Pandemic, I’d love to hear about them!
