Weekly Wrap Up 5/17/24

I am positively giddy this Friday. GIDDY. This weekend is one of my favorite traditions with my best friend: the Micah Hyde Charity Softball Game! It’s so much fun and feels like it really kicks of the Summer season and tides me over until football season. Which, let’s be honest, this past week was very hard for women and female football fans. I shouldn’t be surprised, but wow, those comments really irked me and we’re honestly very triggering. I currently don’t have children so apparently my life hasn’t begun, huh? It made me so angry.

I might expand upon the thoughts this brought up but I am so glad I am not married to a man who only values me for being a “wife and mother” but instead pushes me (more than myself!) to chase my dreams and celebrates my successes loudly and proudly.

Also, huge shout out to all the women out there sharing their degrees and what they’ve done while being a wife and mother. I was raised by a mother who had a whole identity outside being “Phoebe’s mom” and I wouldn’t be the person I am today without her talent and hardwork. She made me feel loved, cared for, and inspired. “Mom” can be anyone’s goal and anyone’s favorite role. But it is not the only one we can go after. Also, I want to extend my utmost admiration to all the moms out there who chose motherhood because it felt right for them. I know so many women who had their children and decided that they wanted to stay home. It should always be your choice.
