May Bucket List
My favorite time of year is here. May-September is when I feel like I come alive. The sun is out longer, it’s finally warmer, I feel full of life, and full of inspiration. Especially after recovering from my surgery for all of April, I feel even more excited to lean into all the beauty of late Spring and the beginnings of Summer. I spent the last six months full of stress and fear, so I am ready for a fresh start and a new season to lean into. These are the things I want to accomplish and focus on!
Plan a Summer Girls’ Trip
During my recovery, I watched season 2 of The Gilded Age and there are scenes that take place in Newport. It’s perfect for fans of Downton Abbey so if you haven’t watched, make sure you do! But more importantly: Newport. I have visited many times but not since 2017 so I really want spend a long weekend there with some of my friends. Let’s not forget I never got to have my bachelorette weekend sooooo I think I deserve this.
Get Back into Writing Routine
I discovered some bad news that led to my surgery right at in the middle of NaNoWriMo. As much as I wanted to write for a long time, I wasn’t in the headspace to do it. Now that I am, I want to devote a regular part of my routine to it again.
Plan our Summer Garden
I love our little balcony so much in the Summer. I want to plant some wild flowers in our window boxes and lean into whimsy and color this season.
Read a Book in a Day
I still get tired very easily but the first day it’s warm enough to sit in the sunshine, I will be reading a book in a day. It’s decided.
Have a Sunset Picnic
While I miss the New England beaches, we do have the Great Lakes and some lovely views. I want to go on a sunset picnic and enjoy a beautiful evening.
Unhaul Books // Clean Out Closet // Declutter Bathroom Cabinets
The “Year of Less” continues! My closet needs to be tackled as well as my bathroom cabinets. And I always need to pass along books to other readers.
Visit a Coffee Shop for a Weekly Writing Session
I love writing in coffee shops but during the Fall and Winter, I get wary of sickness indoors. Now that it’s patio season, you can find me enjoying an iced latte and getting lost in some fictional worlds.
Lean into Morning and Evening Routines
I definitely was out of my routine, especially my nighttime routine, during my recovery. I love my routines so I’m excited to get back into them!
10,000 Daily Steps
A new goal! I wasn’t allowed to exercise in the months leading up to my surgery and I was starting to go a little loopy over it. Now that it’s safe for me to move, I want to challenge myself to 10,000 daily steps! I used to walk so much when I lived in the city so 10k steps was no problem. Now I just want to get fresh air, take some lovely hikes, and enjoy moving my body.
