12 Books to Read on Spring Break

Tis the season for spring break and vacation reading! If you are traveling somewhere warm and relaxing, know that I am incredibly jealous. My warm trip had to be canceled this year and I am so sad about it. Hopefully I’ll get to do some vacation reading this Summer and beyond!

I’ve rounded up some of favorite books that I think would be perfect for a vacation. Even if you’re not headed on a trip, I think these books can transport you to a vacation state of mind no matter where you are. Some are adult books and some are YA, some romances, a few fiction, and a thriller. I hope they inspire relaxation and fun!

ADULT

The Suite Spot by Trish Doller

A perfect book to read to transition from Winter to Spring as it’s set on a remote island in the Great Lakes!

The Guncle by Steven Rowley

One of my favorite books of all time that explores grief, found family, blood family, and guidance from unlikely places. It’s a feel good story that will make you laugh and cry.

Do I Know You? by Emily Wibberly and Austin Siegemund-Brokka

An adult second chance/marriage in crisis romance that will suck you in from the first page.

You Made a Fool of Death with Your Beauty by Awaeke Emezi

I’ve long called this book “achingly romantic” and it’s particularly wonderful on audio. It’s set on an island, so it’s perfect for vacation reading!

Island Time by Georgia Clark

Another island romance, this time off the coast of Australia. It’s about a family that is stranded on a remote island after a tsunami. My favorite character? The island. Read it to understand!

The Romantic Agenda by Claire Kahn

If you read any of my reviews, you know I’m a sucker for a good story set at a lake. This is a lakeside book but is also a romance with Ace rep!

Seven Days in June by Tia Williams

Another all time favorite and a book that is so romantic and heartbreaking at the same time, you’ll be crying behind your sunglasses.

YA

Liar’s Beach by Kate Cotugno

A YA thriller set on Martha’s Vineyard as summer wanes in August. Highly entertaining and not too scary!

Imogen, Obviously by Becky Albertalli

Oh, how I love this book and everything Becky Albertalli writes. This is actually set during the characters’ spring break, so it’s perfect! It’s all about self discovery, friendship, and falling in love.

The Prince and the Apocalypse by Kara McDowell

I read this book last summer and it was one of the most entertaining and unique YA books I’ve read in a long time! It’s about a girl who misses her flight home to the US while a meteor is headed towards earth. She runs into a stranger who helps her, who turns out to be the Prince of England.

Tokyo Ever After by Emiko Jean

If you liked The Princess Diaries (movie, not books) you must read this book! It’s about a girl who learns her father is the Crown Prince of Japan. She goes to visit and starts to have feelings for her bodyguard.

Kisses and Croissants by Anne-Sophie Jouhanneau

This is a book that I will always have fond memories of reading! It’s about a young ballerina who is accepted to an elite ballet school in Paris for the Summer. She’s very serious about her craft but as one would expect with a Summer in Paris, love and duty collide.
