January Bucket List

I’ve been doing these monthly bucket lists for years and every time January rolls around, it’s always wild to me. I think the worst part of adulthood and why we get so nostalgic for our childhood is that time moves so much faster. Sometimes I just want time to slow down and I think part of that is on me. So this year, I want to make the most of my time, versus just getting through the day.

I already have some fun trips scheduled for the Winter and I definitely want to plan a vacation just for Nick and I in August again. Our vacation last year was SO special and perfect. I know we can’t recreate it fully, but I love looking forward to visiting our favorite spot.

Besides trips, I want to lean into “less” this year. I wrote about this a bit more in yesterday’s post all about my 2024 Word of the year. Here’s what I’m focusing on this month!

  1. Intentional Movement

Using my walking pad while I work is one thing I want to do more as well as getting outside more. I walk our dog every day at lunch time but fresh air makes such a huge difference for me and I’d like to make these walks a little bit longer and more intentional. Becca Freeman often talks about how she uses a daily walk/lunch break to help her with her writing and I definitely want to use that time for myself as well.

  2. Book Flights for February Vacation

My parents are playing Snowbirds this year and I am going to visit them for a week! I cannot wait for a little mid winter sunshine to help get me through Winter.

  3. 2024 Vision Board

I didn’t make one of these last year and I regretted it. I think vision boards are so powerful, so I made one on New Year’s Day!

  4. Plan Long Weekend Ski Trip

There is nothing like a cozy weekend in a cabin. We’re lucky to live near a great ski area and we’ve been talking about doing a long weekend out there for the last two years. This year, it’s all about intentional spending and travel is one thing I want to prioritize.

  5. New Recipe from a Cookbook

I love cookbooks and I have SO many of them that I don’t use. Again, this year is all about being intentional and that includes what we’re putting in our bodies. I want to make at least one new recipe this month.

  6. Daily Journal Habit

I went through a lot in 2023 that made me afraid to sit down and write in my journal. This year, I want to focus on just a daily check in until I feel the urge to write more.

  7. Plan a Summer Vacation

I cannot wait for August and our lakeside vacation again! We had the best trip last year and I can’t wait to go again.

  8. No/Low Spend Month

Say it with me: I do not need any new clothes. I do not need any new books. I do not need to Door Dash dinner because I’m too lazy to cook.

  9. Writing Routine

A writing routine is so important. I have some very exciting things coming and I want to be fully invested in my writing journey.

  10. Read One Book From the Library

Libraries are amazing. I have definitely gotten out of the habit of using our wonderful library so I plan on making it a priority every month to read at least one title from there a month!

What’s on your bucket list for this month?
