Books x HGTV: Books for Home Renovation Lovers

One of my favorite memories of my early twenties is when Nick and I were freshly out of college and had our own apartments in different cities. I was in NYC and he was in Philly so on the weekends, we’d trade off going to visit each other. In NYC, we were always go go go, seeing friends and going to museums and finding new restaurants. But when we were in Philly, we’d usually hole up and enjoy a slow weekend.

My favorite Saturday mornings were when we’d get coffee from a local spot and then spend the morning binge watching HGTV. My father-in-law is an architect and Nick studied set design, so he’s always been very handy. We have a pipe dream of doing what Chip and Jo do but with lake houses. Have I mentioned we really want a lake house?

So given how much we love a little home renovation content, it’s no surprise I love to find some romance books that fit that same vibe!

Maggie Moves On by Lucy Score

A house flipping YouTube star travels to a small town for her next project where more than just her creativity sparks after meeting the laidback landscaper on the job.

Fix Her Up by Tessa Bailey

This was my first Tessa Bailey and what got me to be a fan of her work! It’s super fun on audio and is about a former pro baseball player who returns home to work for his best friend’s family’s construction company, only to realize that the youngest sister in the family is all grown up. In typical Tessa fashion, it’s quiet spicy and doesn’t take itself too seriously.

The Honey Don’t List by Christina Lauren

This is a fictional version of the Chip and Jo situation, except that they can’t stand each other and their assistants need to work together to keep that a secret from the rest of America, creating sparks of their own.

Built to Last by Erin Hahn

A second chance romance set at a charming old home that needs some TLC? Perfection. It has a lot of heart as well and I think is perfect for fans of Emily Henry’s more emotional romances.

The Beach Trap by Ali Brady

The Parent Trap meets Flip or Flop! Two sisters fix up a beach house in Destin, FL after discovering the other existed for the first time after their father passed away and left the house to both of them.

Autumn Nights by Willow Aster

Just based on the title, this is a perfect read for this time of year! It’s about a football star who hires a woman as his interior designer. I haven’t read it, but i think i may try to this Fall!

With You Forever by Chloe Liese

Chloe Liese’s Bergman series is famous for featuring the family’s A-Frame cabin and this book also dives into some home reno!

Astrid Parker Doesn’t Fail by Ashley Herring Blake

Probably one of my favorite books of all time, because I could relate to Astrid so much. And Bright Falls is utterly charming!
